Wealth, status, possessions, and comfort can come and go, but the greatest fear of a wise believer is losing their connection with Allah.
• Money can be lost.
• Jobs can end.
• People and possessions can leave.
• Health and youth eventually fade.
A wise Muslim knows that all these things are temporary and were never meant to last forever.
• The real loss is when the heart becomes distant from Allah.
• When a person stops praying sincerely.
• When sins become normal.
• When the Qur'an no longer affects the heart.
• When remembrance of Allah becomes rare.
This is a far greater loss than losing wealth or status because closeness to Allah is the source of true peace, guidance, and success in both this life and the Hereafter.
Allah says:
“Surely in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find comfort.” —
Al-Qur'an | Surah Ar-Ra'd 13:28
A believer may lose money and still be rich with Allah. But if they gain the whole world while losing their relationship with Allah, they have lost what matters most.
Ask yourself: If I lost my wealth, I would notice immediately. But would I notice if my heart became distant from Allah? The wise believer worries more about the second loss than the first.
