I should’ve postet that like a week ago but oh well. Anyway, upd8 on my bass build. Body has been cut, routet and drilled. It ended up a bit wonky, especially arround the pickups, but that happens when you have to kinda freehand some parts. Also I have to adress that a lot of the routing was done by a friend who let me use his machinery, mainly because he actually knows how to handle that spinny death thingy (look up hand router if you wanna know). I may add frames aroud the pickups, maybe leave the caps of competly, if the picks look nice, but at least the neck pocket turned out well.
The small pieces of wood that you can see sticking out were glued in there as there were some imperfections that would have looked ugly and they have now been cut away and sanded down to match the surroundings.
Basically, it’s mostly sanding now (I HATE sanding), to clean out the spots where the router bit and to smooth everything off for finishing. I already have a black stained hardoil, that should darken the whole thing quite a lot, so the fingerboard and body aren’t both brown, but still leave the wood shining through. Also, oil gives a much more comfortable feel and satin look. All in all it’s gonna be a small, modest looking machine, that hopefully ompensates for that in sound.
Lastly, pickups need to be wound. Should be only one evening though. Then assembling everything and hooking up the electronics.
Hopefully I’ll get it finished for the gig on 30th
