24.... “The Isobar, designed by Breuer and Yorke, opened in November 1937 ( at Isokon building in Hampstead) The idea was to create a focal point for local artists, designers, architects, writers and politicians,a place where they could meet and discuss utopian ideals, or just have a drink. Breuer’s design was inspired by meteorology and he installed a barograph in a glass case with a photograph of clouds behind it. Members could lounge on Breuer’s Long Chair or dine at Isokon dining tables, or perch on stools next to Breuer’s nesting table.... Supplies had come from a Spanish restaurant in Soho, brought to them by a Mr Salsoma on the 24 bus.” Excerpt: Circles & Squares ( The Lives & Art of the Hampstead Modernists) by Caroline Maclean July 2021 #london #isokon #isobar #hampstead #bus24 # #mylife #myLondon #lmybus #art #architecture #modernart #modernists #picoftheday #instamood #instafollow #fashionista #athomeintheworld #dametraveler #traveldeeper #artistsoninstagram #livingthedream #gratitude #lifeofawriter #lifeofaconsultant #makingtheimpossiblepossible #myworld🌎 (at South End Green, Hampstead) https://www.instagram.com/p/CR6kvo2pIVY/?utm_medium=tumblr
