My brain: you wanna write something
Me: Okay? What do I write?
My brain: story
Me: What story? A new one? A wip?
My brain: you wanna write something

my done-with-your-bullshit, completely traumatized, and very sad ocs whose last peaceful moment was that one second right after they were born, and then never again:
Things have been a little sad around here lately, so have a little editing humor. . . . . . . #fridayfun #fridayfunday #editing #writerslife #funnyfriday #amediting #editors #revisions #writingmemes #writelife #writerslifeforme #lifeofawriter https://www.instagram.com/p/Cg5bSCTrVCH/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
One thing they don’t warn you about when you write historical books is the sort of backbending you have to do when writing a kissing scene. I mean look at this hat. How is any person supposed to navigate under that wide brim to get a kiss? And let me tell you this is tame by late Edwardian standards! 🤣 #historicalreads #historicalfashion #historicalresearch #allthekissing #writingromance #historicalromance #edwardiannyc #romancereads #lifeofawriter #writinglife #writersofig #authhorsofig #igauthorlife #igauthor https://www.instagram.com/p/CVLhHfMvxmg/?utm_medium=tumblr
Here is a poem for anyone who is struggling right now:
The Maze
Life is challenging
Life is hard
It leaves you sweating
But not bored
So many switchbacks
O, so many turns
You cannot turn back
Even though it burns
You must complete the maze
Try to figure it out
Life takes many days
Need help, just shout
There are rules
This is true
Listen, they're tools
To make a better you
Don't cut the maze short
By cheating you out of a life
It is the living you must sort
Not the pain and strife
Keep going through the system
There are many on your path
Share your wisdom
But don't share your wrath
I trust you will make it
And have memories
Now you can sit
Seeing the forest for the trees.
Participation Trophies Don’t Pay the Rent for Diversity
Going to say it again: For some reason if you’re diverse: Say you’re LGBTQIA, poor, A person of color, adopted, disabled, etc... people expect that you will be glad to have furthered the cause for what?
FREE
And fuck that. Seriously fuck that idea.
You know when you elicit someone’s work for FREE is called without paying them and calling in the participation trophy and saying, but prestige while they do ALL of the emotional labor and work is called?
A SCAM
So I’m here to say, yes, be glad that you are including diversity in your magazines. But you know what would really, really further our rights? You know what would stick it to the super privileged among us?
PAY YOUR DIVERSE WRITERS A FAIR WAGE
No participation trophy has ever paid the rent or closed the sometimes quintuple the wage gap for PoC writers and diverse writers compared to cis het abled men.
“Look, I got published in a magazine, can you wave my rent?”
Do you really think the Landlord is going to say yes?
“Look, I got published in a magazine... can you let me have this food?”
That’s not going to work either.
Also, to the writers out there, know that you are good enough to get paid. Work towards that goal. You have a right to be paid for your work and further our value as people by getting paid. People will value you more if you get paid for your work.
Life keep hitting hard on me but that doesn't mean imma stop trying to get up
