Zappar is an app for Augmented Reality. Heather Andrew, a CEO of Neuro-Insight, wrote a short article about how augmented reality affects the brain.
Working with Mindshare UK and Zappar, Neuro-Insight formed a study into the consumer about the little known topic of the neurological impact of AR.
This study unearthed AR’s true value by revealing how it transforms the world around us.
AR drives higher levels of visual attention and cognitive activity in the brain.
The results of this collaborated and intricate experiment ‘Layered’ revealed that visual attention in the users nearly doubled from using AR.
The use of AR is likely to diminish over time, despite the fact that it has proven to generate more useful brain activity, the novelty and excitement of AR will transcend into an integral part of our everyday lives.
AR has proven to help boost lasting brand advertising, attention, emotion and memory encoding. AR will play a long term strategic part for CPG brands who aim to stand out.
But isn’t advertising penetrative enough? Will we be discovering the repercussions of this influx of high technology and big data in years to come?
