something interesting that i’ve learned about dance (coming from being a non dancer) is that it seems like isolation exercises in weightlifting serve as a viable replacement for doing dance specific isolation drills. even though i’ve never specifically practiced isolations in dance terms, i don’t have a problem with doing them in dances because i have the strength and proprioception from weightlifting to be able to just do it already. you’d never initially think of weightlifting as having such a crossover effect on dance but having that under my belt is actually a large reason why i was able to get so much better so quickly the last six months after being an AWFUL dancer the first 18 years of my life in gymnastics

#like yesterday at class there was a move that some of the other people in class couldn’t get down so the instructor had them do some #isolation drills #but i could do the move fine already even without any real dance experience and i realized this is why #strength training is cool kids!
