Second Reboot Comic in the Magazine #255

Beautiful cover art again! Apart from Aisha being missing, of course, but I still love it, it's so pretty. I especially love Musa's and Tecna's poses. The 2D artstyle also favours Wizgiz a lot, he looks great and very much like he's supposed to again! We get two background fairy designs that carry throughout the whole scene which I found kinda neat - points for consistency.
The comic covers E2 of the reboot which is a bit of a shock because it skips over the whole "Bloom accidentally releasing the animals and the specialists coming to help" plot completely. Maybe they'll return to that once it makes sense to introduce these characters but they might also just skip it entirely which is an interesting choice. We'll have to see what that means for the following episodes.
As for this one, I vastly prefer the comics' rendition of E2 actually! It's entirely set in the classroom with the same lesson as in the episode and has the Trix mess with Bloom's magic just the same. However, unlike in the series what Bloom turns the dog into causes more problems with Wizgiz being unable to fix the spell on his own. The Winx try and help and in the end Bloom's powers in combination with Wizgiz' fixes the spell and at the same time breaks the spell the Trix put on her. Faragonda and Griffin show up to see what's going on and Bloom apologizes for messing up and shares her worries about being a witch. Faragonda tells her that she's a fairy and that she senses a lot of power from her as well as some malicious spell that interfered with her magic. Griffin seems to suspect that it was the Trix' doing but the others don't know that and the Winx celebrate with a group hug.
I like that this version basically completely skips over the fairy vs witch test and also doesn't have Bloom go back to Earth at the first sign of difficulty. It just flows so much more naturally from a story progression standpoint and erases that stupid test that made no sense anyway. There's still the implication that being a witch is something undesirable in comparison to being a fairy but it's much weaker than it was in the reboot episode so that's something. There's also no visible "bonding" between the Winx, they seem to already be the bestest of friends, but since the reboot barely had more than one puny bonding scene anyway I'm not going to hold this against the comic. We even have a better layout of the classroom in the background of that one panel! (And I just enjoy Musa and Tecna sitting together like the bffs they are.)
