Deported to her death for being a lesbian?

Aderonke fled violence in Nigeria 10 years ago and applied for asylum in the UK. But in her latest hearing last week, a Home Office barrister argued that she couldn’t be a lesbian because “Lesbians only have short hair. And they don’t have children.” Can you believe that they’re saying that because she used to have long hair and has children she can’t possibly be a “real” lesbian? The Home Office is replacing real justice with ignorant clichés. One more thing: Please tag your disturbing posts accordingly. I understand that what's happening is outrageous, but I need to be able to sleep as it is almost the end of the semester and reading constantly about human cruelty, sometimes even illustrated, does not help. I know this is important and I'm not trying to diminish it, but some of us need to concentrate on things we can actually do something about.

i don't want to preach or sound like a 60s 'make love not war' slogan but i've been wanting to say this for a long time, as someone who has been ignorant, passive, and probably oppressive in the past.

when someone is ignorant, teach them.

when someone is passive, tell them how to help.

when someone is oppressive, explain why they're wrong.

never condemn, but never excuse.

when you're trying to win, make allies, not enemies.

How do you tell someone you don't want to listen to them and that they should be quiet. I mean... I just enjoy silence is that like horrible. Like sometimes I don't even care about music, I just want silence. My thoughts are noisy enough that I don't need the ramblings of another.

Ugh.... Like I really don't wanna go back to my room and put on the headphones you know... just wanna be able to sit in a fucking chair and have the company of my own thoughts.
