Today is World Hijab Day.
It gave me hope to see half our staff don the hijab in support of our arabic and Muslim students & families. Our amazing arabic translator organized the event and helped us put on hijabs in the staff room.
Our hijabs inspired great conversation among the students. One fourth grader even stood up in front of the class to teach her teacher how to put on the hijab, while sharing about why the hijab is important to her. We must continue to work to ensure school feels this safe and openly supportive to our students every single day.
