Sometimes I don’t even want to eat my food because it looks so pretty🌱 . Today I went to get coffee and took a reusable cup instead of taking one of their plastic cups. It’s #plasticfreejuly !!!🌱🌱🌱 And I’m so glad my #stasherbag came right on time! This month I’m taking the #isweartobeaware commitment to reduce my use of plastics this month and being more conscientious of how much plastic I use! You don’t have to join, but it helps if you take the time to notice the amount of plastic that you use each and every day and help reduce it by simply bringing homemade food for lunch or using a refillable water mug instead of purchasing. Getting ready to wrap the #Plasticswearjarchallenege + looking back on this week there have been more learnings that I thought would happen. All in all, we live pretty consciously day to day- carrying out own reusable water bottles, bags and cups 90% of the time. Thinking about if we NEED something versus if we just want it, and then if it’s functional for the long term. ⠀ ⠀ @gabaccia + I have had some major shifts to how we live + where we call home - G living in her truck + on the road, me balancing sharing space with roommates + traveling for clients. ⠀ ⠀ Although our lifestyles daily differ our commitment to trying to do better with every action remains the same. Since last Sunday we’ve been tracking our single use items + even living this way, I’ve still racked up an entire bag of plastic + other items that I’ll never be able to use again from wrappers to chip bags, boxes to useless packaging to “protect” new items + more.⠀ ⠀ Tomorrow we’ll share the final numbers + a few more thoughts on why we took the pledge this week + moving forward. ⠀ . photo: @the.tuna ⠀ #strandedswears #isweartobeaware #strandedonland (at Mount Woodson)

We spent Earth Day yesterday in + with our community. Over 50 people choose to come together + spend their Sunday afternoon in a collective conscious effort. We cleaned 170 pounds of trash from the Leucadia streets + beaches + made the pledge #ISwearToBeAware of the wastes we're creating + the impacts that we're making every day.⠀ ⠀ It's easy to sit back + say that there's more that can be done, that there are bigger problems, bigger solutions, and bigger efforts that need to be addressed. This is all true. But the reality is that each effort, no matter how large or small counts. And collectively, every effort we do together + separate creates small impacts that grow into bigger conversations, increased awareness + steps closer to more conscious changes in ourselves + other people.⠀ ⠀ This week, @gabaccia + I will be joining the #PlasticSwearJar Challenge with our amigas at @changingtidesfoundation in an effort to share our personal connections to living more consciously. Everyone has their own reason why they share their passions for protecting what they love with the world they're able to reach. Some people love the ocean, others the mountains and rivers that flow through. ⠀ ⠀ I personally love every bit of nature. From the trees that sway to the tiny speckles of dirt that cakes between my fingernails and toes. Every action, every purchase, every day effects this. And the more I learn about the effects of y choices, the more aware I become of how I need to prioritize being better, giving back more, and making fewer + smaller impacts. Sometimes it seems futile, a lot of the times inconvenient + exhausting. But, I wholeheartedly believe that the decisions I make, conversations I share + efforts to choose a less single-use plastic life are some of the most impactful ones I can. ⠀ ⠀ Sunday, @gabaccia + I will be joining @changingtidesfoundation #PlasticSwearJar Challenge along with many others in order to continue increasing our own + our communities awareness of the impacts we're making.
