I will never understand posts complaining about how "passive" late season Sam is and how only Dean "gets" to be angry anymore when Sam's gentleness, understanding, tolerance, and flexibility are consistently proven to be strengths that solve problems whereas Dean's anger most often leads to problems, is often shown to be flat-out wrong or at least misguided, and stunts his healing and growth--almost like the show is critiquing anger as the only valid emotional outlet in the model of toxic masculinity! I mean, that critique is something the writers probably stumbled onto accidentally because I don't really trust or expect them to be that intentional lol. But it still stands. As a Dean fan, I wish he would take a page out of Sam's book. I'm sympathetic to Dean's anger because I know where it comes from, but I am also often frustrated by it. I wish he could be less angry. So I can't understand fans who want to reverse Sam's development and arrest him in the state he was at as a brash, stubborn, barely-more-than-adolescent. Older Sam has learned to choose his battles, so when he does get angry, you know to pay attention. You know it's earned.
