Not to play the empathy olympics or anything but when you’re getting angry that people are perhaps happy about Charlie Kirk’s passing - you’re not actually being that empathetic, because empathy is about understanding how other people feel.
I think empathy is needed nowadays more than ever but if you can’t understand why people, even on the left, are having incredibly mixed feelings at the moment (apart from just the shock of it) you’re not really being that empathetic. Empathy is more than just feeling bad for someone when something bad happens.
