Animal Rescue Collective Craft Guild Donations

HELLO ANIMAL LOVERS OF TUMBLR!

For anyone out there feeling helpless in the face of the fires currently ravaging Australia, this is a really good organisation that helps and supports injured wildlife in AU. At the moment, there is a really high demand for essentials for the injured and orphaned animals who have been rescued. These include:

sewn pouches for orphaned kangaroo and wallaby joeys (i.e. babies)

bat wraps for bats and flying foxes (SUPER CUTE AS SEEN ABOVE and super affected by the extreme heat :(((( )

crocheted nests for birds and rodents/small marsupials

mittens for koalas (burned paws :((( )

blankets, beds, crates, and other supplies for various animals including reptiles

It is currently estimated that half a billion (HALF. A. BILLION) animals have been killed in these fires, and there are scores of animals which have been left injured, orphaned, and in need of care. These fires have already caused so much damage, and terrifyingly this is the beginning of the fire season here, meaning there is more damage likely to come.

I know that myself and friends/family have been feeling overwhelmed and unsure about what to actually DO in the face of this, and donating is absolutely at the top of the list.

I’ve been following this group for a little while now and thought I would post the link to their donations page in case anyone was inclined to throw some dollars their way! Every bit helps :))))

(P.S. If you’re in Australia and are a nifty sewer, knitter, crocheter or crafter and can actually MAKE any of this stuff, then you are also in demand!! There are drop off locations all over AU and lots of info/tutorials about how to make the pouches and wraps etc and how and where they will be used.)
