the modern college au aang no one asked for
peace studies and conflict resolution major , double minor in cultural anthropology and philosophy
only able to attend bc of an athletic scholarship for gymnastics. surprisingly , college is where he gets his first formal coaching in the sport. his actual background is more calisthenics meets parkour meets dance —- if aang had to put a label on it.
international student. grew up traveling a lot with his adoptive father and still takes every opportunity to travel : on breaks , with friends , study abroad , volunteering , etc. he has travel stories for daaaays.
known for skateboarding and/or rollerblading around campus , sometimes pulled by a giant dog. if any staff ask if you saw a boy with big dog , the answer is no. ; appa is like the campus' unofficial therapy dog. on the days aang brings him , everyone works together to keep him a secret from the staff ( except for a few cool professors who are in on the charade )
leads free meditation classes on the quad twice a week. he's not even really sure how it started to be honest. he was meditating by himself early one morning. someone asked about it ( it was odd seeing the bubbly, talkative, energetic guy sitting there silent and unmoving ) , he explained. they asked if he could teach them , he said sure , and now there's at least 8 - 10 people showing up every time. they seem to like it so he keeps doing it.
social butterfly. somehow has friends in every major , every year , every club , and gets invited to all the parties. he shows up early to help set up or stays late to clean up. often volunteers to be the designated sober friend making sure others get home safe. frequently the one encouraging everyone to dance , not just bob along to the beat , but really dance.
