I return, this time with art questions
Ive been practicing art and I dont really know where to go, I suck at faces and detail, but I feel like I sketch well? Idk how to explain it. Ill try some more today but any tips for developing my own style?
Oh fully understandable actually-
Well when it comes to creating a ‘finished’ drawing, (sketched, lined, colored, shaded, rendered, etc) I actually skip a few steps myself
there’s a wholleeee bunch of different ways for you to create art with detail and other things, for me I actually rarely EVER line things, it makes it too clean for my style and just makes my drawings look a bit too.. processed tbh, like I do like things from time to time but any time I do, it ends up being a piece that I’m not actually that happy with.
For me I looked through various artists who’s styles inspire me to draw and like- actually made me draw more, there was a period of time where I just dIDNT draw because i had no inspiration and honestly no idea where to start, after finding various artists from dif fandoms and socials though I ended up kinda just adopting some of their choices for anatomy or faces or other:)
I’d suggest looking through artists and medias that you enjoy and try recreating some of them, try out new brushes, find what you are most comfortable using and and ofc don’t skip out on mixed medias irl! (Water color, oil painting, acrylics, charcoal, and other), it’s really just about experimenting:)
iv kinda grown up with digital art so thats what iv found myself mosT comfortable with, though i do step out of my comfort zone with watercolor from time to time (I haven’t ever posted them here because it’s been a bit but) anyways lol.
:) also try and figure out if you want a softer or sharper tone for your style! I have a pretty soft style though iv learned how to do sharper stuff when it calls for it, iv made my own brush set for creating art that meets my needs which is really soft and kinda just flows well with my vision, i like to leave a lot of it up to other peoples eyes to decide what’s happening— it’s understandable but the form is very lightweight and if you were to look at JUST that part you’d have no idea what it was LMAO
Anyways YEA, experiment with your style, don’t be afraid to try other people’s techniques, do research, use MANY references, and honestly just have fun with it! Oh and if you have an artist (or a few) that is contactable, try asking them for their processes or some of their techniques that they wish they had sooner in their drawing career ^^!!!
