Man, it’s just, the MGS4 final boss fight will likely never be toppled in my heart because by then, the plot already ended. All has literally been resolved before that fight.

It’s purely personal and full to the brim with emotions, because it is precisely that: Pure emotion carrying that last showdown as the two characters’ bodies literally break down multiple times throughout the fight due to the abuse they’ve taken not only throughout this game, but throughout the whole franchise leading to that point, but they have such dogged determination to settle the score with each other for purely emotional and personal reasons that they are even willing to help the other get up with what basically amounts to steroids and painkillers, all so the other can get up again and they can continue to fight.

#nothing literally nothing will ever get it to the level this game does #a close second place is Furi #albeit in a vastly different manner #just... the weight of context history and lore all packed together in one final much eagerly awaited showdown #that the narrative could very well have denied you if it wanted yet it goes out of its way to give you #all while being expertly cohesive and on point with the themes of the overarching narrative #to the point where this particular showdown not happening or happening under any other context simply would not have compared #it understands
