Some fans like to say Colin should've been with Marina or Penelope should've been with Lord Debling

They don't get that it doesn't matter what could've happened because Polin would've still been endgame

1. If Colin married Marina he would've found out the truth and after talking to Penelope he would figure out he was in love with her and made Pen his mistress.

2. If Colin married Marina and she died then Penelope would've written him and he would realize he was in love with her and married her.

3. If Penelope married Debling he would've been away for years leaving Pen where she would get closer to Colin and cheated making Colin her mistress.

4. If Pen married Debling and he died during his trip Colin would've gotten close to her and married her

5. If Penelope was a spinster for years she would've gotten close to Colin and he would realize he was in love with her then they would get married

6. If Colin was a bachelor he would've realized he was in love with Penelope and they still would've gotten married

It doesn't matter if you got what you wanted with them being with other people or alone because they would've still been endgame.

I'm never done being insane about the way Silver equates himself with both Thomas and Miranda in that conversation they have while Flint buries the cache at the end of s3.

Like, he essentially says he inhabits the place in Flint's life that they both used to. The people he was closest to! The people he loved! His ideological partners! He sees himself that way!

Does he imagine how they felt in that place at Flint's side? Does he look back at how many times he made choices with the express purpose of getting there? Or were his motives opaque even to himself? Does he see them then, in the forest?

Perhaps, in the days that follow, he believes he is distancing himself from the path Thomas and Miranda both walked. Perhaps he believes it will save him.

At the end of the episode, he is not at Flint's shoulder any longer. He takes his own seat at the table. Perhaps he thinks this is the moment he steps out of that role.

And, of course, it is just that kind of gesture that Thomas and Miranda both would have - both did - make in their lives. They were independent, strong people. And it didn't make them any less Flint's, nor did it make Flint any less theirs.
