Cherri’s brow creased. “Go where?” he murmured.
“Anywhere. Ever.” Kobra nuzzled impulsively into Cherri, head tucked under his chin.
Oh, Kobra. Cherri slid a comforting hand around to cradle the back of Kobra’s head, hold him close. “You’re skipping to the end again.”
“Can’t help it.”
Cherri sighed and kept carding Kobra’s hair, letting him stay there with his ear pressed to Cherri’s chest, listening to his heartbeat. Because while Cherri had become well practiced in the art of savoring things without clinging to them, that was a lesson he didn’t think Kobra could ever learn.
