Always the writer, never the reader.
the Writer Mood™ when you've got the shadow of a concept of a scene and a couple lines of dialogue bouncing around in your head like a screensaver and you have to be like buddy, come back when you're something coherent. i can't do anything with this.
Person: What's your book about?
Writers:
I'm both somehow 🙃
I wrote this for me, because it wouldn't get out of my head. I'm sharing it with you because it's fun and I want to fangirl about it with someone who's read it.
This shouldn't be that difficult to understand. Every book will appeal to different people. But if you never write the book and share it, you will never get to look back on it and say "I wrote that."
Every book is a learning process. With each one you write, you get better. Even if the only person who reads it is you, you did that. Be proud of yourself. Not everyone makes it even that far.

Me to the character that won't make it to the final draft:
fanfic research is so funny to me, because the majority of my search history will be "[word] synonyms" or "synonyms for [word]" and "how to describe [insert thing]" and then sometimes also crap like "what food do they serve at cafes" and other things about that sorta stuff (because i'm a homebody who doesn't know how normal things work), but usually, that's all there is to it most of the time
but then other times, there'll be one portion of my search history spanning a few hours of me researching medical equipment for a blood transfusion because my DUMBA** ACCIDENTALLY WROTE MY FAV CHARACTER INTO CRITICAL CONDITION
