Opinion on AtsuMori (yes that's a thing btw)
I personally don't mind it I think it's a cool dynamic to explore just as long as it isn't, y'know, sexual/romantic
AAAAAAAAHHH– AAAAAAAAH AAH AHH- Ah. ah, okay, I got a little. A little frightened there, got a bit ahead of myself.
After getting over my tachychardia form reading the beggining of that ask, I think Mori and Atsushi is a strangely unexplored dynamic. Bsd has no real antagonists, no one is a purely good or bad person, but Mori is the closest thing we had to an antagonist for a while (before shit hit the fan with the DOA, fyodor and all). And for the "antagonist" to never even meet the protagonist properly is very weird.
The only time they met was in Anne's room, they worked together pretty well, but Mori was disguised as a regular doctor. Atsushi has never properly met and had a conversation with The Port Mafia Boss.
And that's weird, but also interesting, maybe it's some really long build up to a huge moment in the series, or Asagiri didn't even notice that fact (which I find unlikely). But even though Mori never met Atsushi, the image of the pm boss, the fear he instills, his phrases, his demeanor, maybe some of his teachings but that's already a stretch, all of that gets to Atsushi and affects him.
Mori's influence is like a web in more ways than one, it's near impossible to escape, and even if you manage to, it sticks.
Atsushi knows a scary doctor, she's his coworker. Atsushi knows a man who comes off as silly but is scarily smart and strategic, he's his mentor. Atsushi knows someone who would do anything for Yokohama, he's the president of the agency that took him in when he desperately needed a home.
Atsushi also knows someone who, out of the most twisted sense of care one can imagine, destroyed his sense of self and his whole life as a child, in a way that he can't possibly imagine how he would be without the influence of that person. He's the orphanage director.
Overall, if they ever met, Mori would be familiar. Terrifyingly familiar, in a way neither Dazai, Yosano, Fukuzawa, or anyone who loves atsushi and has come into close contact with Mori would ever want him to be.
