When I was younger I used to get so pissed off by high-school aus specifically bc no matter where the original story takes place the au would always be set in an American high-school and American High schools confuse the hell out of me

I really like stories where the atmosphere, stakes, and general tension is kept at around an even 2, and then something ratchets up to a 3 and suddenly you're completely invested like "oh shit, how will our heroes get out of this one??" when "this one" is casserole recipe gone wrong
