the best thing that can happen to a character in a temporarily-canon-replacing-event-AU is die at the end of the event. because otherwise they will bring that character back 7000 times. yet this post is about age of apocalypse. and even killing half the characters at the end of that event didn't help. they just dug them out of their graves over and over and over again.
#yael's x men ramblings#i have talked about my frustration with stories that return to aoa#it's never good#half of the aoa characters are deeply doomed and are supposed to die#bringing forge back and reuniting him with nate grey ruins so much of the original plot#the entire point of the world is that this was never meant to happen#and magneto's x-men literally sacrifice their world for the possibility of a better reality#going back there over and over again is just pointless#what's good about aoa is that it's a plane crash#we're watching everything go to shit#i love the fact that some characters got to escape aoa#brining that reality back is also cheapening their stories#you can very much see it with blink and sabretooth in exiles. dark beast in x-termination.#x-termination is a whole can of worms. man i hate that event and everything leading up to it in the age of apocalypse series#THAT AGE OF APOCALYPSE SERIES. GOD.#absolute dogshit#i know people love aoa for the aesthetic but guysssss the tragedy please the tragedy is the best part of it#(speaking of the aesthetic. age of apocalypse vol. 1 retains none of that aesthetic it's such a dull book with character no one cares about#also the names of the aoa sequels annoy me so much#there is not book called age of apocalypse in the original lineup#first sequel is the 10th anniversary miniseries that's called x-men: age of apocalypse#then age of apocalypse Vol. 1 (2012) which is the dull one i hate with a passion#and then age of apocalypse vol. 2 (2015) which is a secret wars tie-in that doesn't even take place in 295 and is contradicted by the actua#secret wars series#and now we have x-men of apocalypse alpha and the x-men of apocalypse series itself. it's a mess.#anyway. i love aoa. i don't like much of anything that came after the original event it's all nostalgia bait#except for exiles ofc ofc
