a/n: heyyyy thanks for the req!! this one was so freaking fun to write omg i rlly hope u like it!!

loser!ellie whose face goes entirely red when you first suggest the idea, giving you a full double take. “you wanna what??” she’d ask, all stiff and too flustered to say anything when you speak your request again. “i wanna suck your strap.” plain and simple, looking right at her. you’d think you were asking about the weather.

loser!ellie who caves the second you try to charm her. “please, ellie,” you’d say. you’re looking into her eyes and she can’t bring herself to look back. god you don’t know what hearing you say her name does to her.

loser!ellie who’s flustered but still apprehensive after you ask. but then you rest a hand on her shoulder, rubbing affectionately. it’s the slightest touch but it already has her mind spinning. then you just had to say “you just feel so good inside me, els. i wanna know what you taste like.” oh, she was fucking done for.

loser!ellie who sits on the edge of the bed and watches you almost reverently as you sink down on your knees infront of her, heart pounding, pupils dilated, a light coat of blush dusting her cheeks when you look up at her from below.

Six months, you’d been here. Six months of being held captive, being fed the few scraps of food that weren’t made of your fellow humans. Two heats spent with alphas that you hated, that you wanted nothing more than to rip their throats out rather than take their knots.

And now, two days of hearing about the child that David had found, supposedly one of the people that had taken down a group of men set on a scavenging mission. You’d seen how David eyed the children of the settlement, and knew that the girl’s capture had nothing to do with her taking out his men. It had to do with his desire.

You wanted to puke, just thinking about it.

That’s why you were currently sneaking about, a spare set of keys in your pocket that you were desperately trying to keep silent, to not alert anyone to your presence as you snuck into the old butcher’s shop, the scent of dead flesh stinking up your nose.

There she was. Red-haired, freckled, no more than fifteen years old, and glaring at you with all the hatred in her heart.

“Stay quiet,” you whispered as you approached the cage she was being kept in, nearly panicking when she opened her mouth to say something. “I’m going to get you out of here, just stay quiet, okay?” Her mouth shut, though her eyes were still filled with uncertainty and distrust. You flipped through the keys, trying to find the one that would set her free. It took you ten tries, each one building your panic, but finally the door swung open with a metallic creak. “Follow me, I’ll get you out of here.”

“Why should I trust you?” the child asked, her green eyes narrowing at you again.

“You shouldn’t,” you started, “But I will get you out of here, even if it gets me killed.” You couldn’t stand by and watch yet another child be a victim of David’s.

That seemed to be enough for her and she nodded, following you on silent feet as you made your way out of the butcher’s building. You saw a flash of movement in the corner of your eyes, and just barely saw the switchblade before it made its way into the girl’s pocket.

You made it all of three buildings away before the alarms started going off, and you quickened your steps as you led her to the edge of the town, glancing behind you every few seconds to make sure she hadn’t wandered off. Somehow, you just barely avoided the alphas searching for you as you made your way to the pub just on the edge of town, sneaking inside and carefully shutting the squeaky door behind you once the girl was inside. All you needed was to get out through the front door, and the gates to the town would be in your reach.

You scented David before you saw him, fear filling your heart when his eyes locked onto you.

“Y/N… For all of our generosity, this is how you repay us? By sneaking around, stealing one of our new guests?” David asked with a shake of his head. “You should know better.”

“I guess the idea of being among cannibals finally got to me,” you replied, backing away when he stalked towards you. When you glanced to your side, Ellie was gone, and you tried to keep the surprise off of your face.

“You know we only do what we do to survive, Y/N. And we’ve kept you safe for months, omega. You’d think you could show a little gratitude.” The crunching of glass somewhere in the pub caught David’s attention, his head whipping towards the noise. “Trying to get the angle on me, hm? That won’t work, Ellie,” David warned, turning his back to you to search for the girl.

You took the opportunity to snag a kitchen knife from one of the counters, your shaky hands holding the blade tightly. David had crossed to the other side of the restaurant, peering around corners in an attempt to find Ellie. You spotted her behind him, sneaking towards him with her switchblade drawn. She jumped at him, stabbing him twice in the shoulder before running away. David hissed in pain as he knocked over a lantern, fire spilling from it and catching on the wooden floors.

You knew that you only had a few minutes to get out of the building before you were all burned alive, and tapped your knife on one of the walls, loudly. David’s attention swung to you, his legs swiftly carrying him in your direction. You ran the opposite direction, rounding one of the booths and crouching behind it. Out of the corner of your eye you spotted Ellie, who gestured for you to stand.

She’d trusted you, so you would trust her.

Your legs straightened and you spotted David on the other side of the booth, his machete gleaming in the firelight. The smoke was growing thick in the air, making it hard to breathe. “There you are,” he murmured, stalking around the booth and following you as you backed away, holding your knife in front of you. “You’re not gonna hurt me, omega, and you know it.”

“Stay back, David,” you warned, keeping your eyes on his even as you saw Ellie creeping up behind him in your peripheral vision. “I’m warning you-”

“Don’t act tough,” he laughed. “You couldn’t hurt a-”

His words were cut off when Ellie jumped on his back again, this time getting a stab into chest, then another and another. David howled in pain and threw her off of him, falling to the ground after he had. You heard Ellie’s head hit one of the booths and watched as her eyes shut, her body going limp.

Shit, shit, shit, you thought, watching as David stood, swaying slightly as blood gushed from his wounds. His machete was on the floor, discarded as he stormed towards you with a growl. You slashed at him with the knife, cutting his arms before he got his hands around your neck.

Your airway was cut off, lungs burning after only a few seconds and you dropped the knife in your hands. Your fingers clawed at his hands, nails scratching but he didn’t let go even as you fell to the floor, his body following yours as he continued choking you. You tried to pry his hands off of your throat, you tried and tried and tried, but the longer he held your throat, the weaker you got.

You couldn’t find it in yourself to be upset with your actions, so long as the girl escaped. If you had saved her, you could die peacefully. Your hands stopped working, resting over David’s as your vision started to black out.

And then his hands were gone, his body falling onto yours. You gasped, taking in as much air as you could as you watched Ellie slam the machete into his head, over and over again, his blood spraying on your face and soaking your shirt. You could feel the force of her blows as he was pushed into you, feel the anger radiating off of her.

A man rounded the corner, pulling Ellie away with his arms around her stomach. Your hands fumbled for the knife you’d dropped earlier, and you pushed David’s body off of you and stood as Ellie let go of the machete. She turned into the man’s arms, sobbing as she wrapped her own around him. You approached the pair on shaky legs, knife extended.

“Let-” you coughed at the pain in your throat, free hand coming to run over it gently. “Let her go,” you managed to choke out.

“Drop your weapon before I kill you,” the man said, a gun appearing in one of his hands, aimed at you. You dropped the knife to the ground, holding your hands above your head as fear coursed through you again.

“Joel, she saved me,” Ellie said through her tears as she turned towards you. “She saved me,” she reiterated when he didn’t lower his weapon.

“C’mon, we’re leavin’,” the man, Joel, said, beginning to tug Ellie towards the front door of the pub.

“Joel, we can’t just leave her here,” Ellie insisted, pulling on his arm.

Joel turned back to look at you, his eyes narrowed at you, assessing you. The smoke was so thick you could barely see them, and you coughed loudly, a hand coming up to soothe your throat. “Fine. Keep up,” he demanded, turning away from you and pulling Ellie out of the building. You followed after them, keeping close as Joel led the three of you out of the town.

You glanced back once you’d left the gates, smoke billowing into the sky. The alarm grew fainter the further you walked, and so did the life you’d known for six months.

Good riddance.

It was easy to say Tommy wasn’t proud of what he did.

He had foolishly thought the fireflies would give him meaning, something more than his brothers inhumane violence that somehow Tommy always got dragged into. He still heard the screams at night, in his head. Torture, pain, the heavy silence that followed in the wake of their brutish actions.

Tommy felt like he was back where he started, the blazing crimson dancing in pools of dark blues and greens. He was left standing there, watching them all burn, engulfed by the flames. Tommy and a few other fireflies had been instructed to blow a Checkpoint at the Denver QZ. Their target was Fedra, but civilians got caught in the blast, burning up in the aftermath.

His feet refused to move despite the fact he needed to, fast. A hand grabbed his arm, forcefully pulling him to the side, behind a building seconds before a raging cloud of heat swept out right where Tommy had been standing. His breath was heavy as he came back to reality, eyes locking onto yours.

The only thing that seemed worth it anymore was you. You, a firefly he met some odd months back around the time he joined. You had been temporarily stationed in Boston. Marlene introduced you two, telling you that you’d be taking Tommy with you.

Everyone in the fireflies had their own sick definition of justice. Yours though, yours was most reasonable in Tommy’s eyes. You never partook in celebrating the deaths of those you killed, always merciful when you could be. You just wanted change, equality, some sense of normality like the distant old times of regular life before.

Tommy wasn’t surprised when he fell in love with you. You were a leader, natural born it seemed. Nights under the stars were filled with a kind of softness reserved for Tommy, and Tommy alone. You were stern where you had to be, but never harsh. Tommy admired you on so many levels.

It was a scary time to feel such way, never knowing if tomorrow was promised. Being in the fireflies meant you could be dead any day, although, being anywhere- anybody nowadays meant you could be dead. He still put his heart on the line, loving you anyways.

You checked if he was alright before holding him close, hugging him tight. “Jesus Tommy..” You whispered in his ear, a slight tremble in your voice. He lived for the smallest moments like this. He lived for you.

“We gotta move. Now.” You said, grabbing his hand as you broke away, running. You both ran like hell, gunfire following your every step. You weren’t sure where the rest of your squad had ended up, only sure that Tommy was safe. It felt like that was the only thing that mattered.

“Shit!” You cursed as a Fedra truck came peeling around the corner. You turned around, trying to figure a way out. “Quick, down the al--!” You fell from Tommy, hitting the cold ground with a cry. You’d gotten shot. His heart sped up as saw the blood gush from your wound. He quickly pulled you back up, right on up into his arms. He didn’t care how heavy you were, he’d carry ten times the weight a thousand times over before even considering leaving you behind.

He held you as secure as he could, throwing his weight into a random back alley door, busting through it. He was trying to find shelter for you, away from Fedra. Your hand lazily spread over the wound, the weakest attempt to stop the blood. Tommy rushed through the building, eventually finding an apartment that had a sturdy door, getting you both behind it.

You felt something cushy below you, perhaps a couch? You were blanking on reality right now, your head nodding off. Tommy cursed, breaths uneven as he tried his best to treat your wound. Every whine was met with a “I know… I know…. M’sorry… so damn sorry…”

When your gaze had focused for a moment, you caught sight of a terrified Tommy. Your hand reached up, trying to grab at him. Blood soaked skin slipped down his front, dragging over his dogtag before it dropped. Before you slipped into unconsciousness, you saw Tears slip from Tommy’s eyes.

Your eyes were heavy but slowly began to open. The first thing you saw was the dirty window casting light across the old forgotten room. Next thing you registered was the steady warmth around you, a strong presence. “..mmmnn…”  You tried to move, only to be met with a searing pain in your gut.

“Shh.. Shh… Easy.” He mumbled, realizing you were up. Your head tilted just enough to see him. He looked exhausted and endlessly worried, but you also saw something else, Relief. “Tommy…” You began. “I’m here… I’m right here.” He finished, reassuring you. “Never going anywhere.” He whispered against the top of your head.

Tommy was true to his word, never leaving you alone. It was only a few months later you both broke away from the militia, taking your chances on the road. You two didn’t spend too long on the road, eventually finding Jackson. Somewhere safe and sturdy.

You two got to live and grow, finally finding a sense of normality. No more killing, no more fighting for your life. It was so… domestic. Tommy and you patrolled together, lived together, ate together, slept together. You guys ended up getting married a few years into being there. Then on came a baby, which scared the absolute shit out of the both of you. Then a dog, some feral puppy you found on patrol that you were able to tame.

Before you knew it, it was your kids 6th birthday. You and Tommy celebrated the little one, throwing them the best party at home. Joel, who you recently met as he settled here, was there. So was Ellie who you also just recently met. Despite being older than all the attending kids, she still had so much fun.

Everything felt perfect in Tommy’s world, and it all started with you. As your kid blew out the candles of the cake you made, everyone clapped. Tommy looked to you, a small smile on his lips. Feeling his stare, you turned to catch his gaze.

“What?” You asked with a small laugh.

“I love you.”
