Part of the experience of reading House of Leaves is that by reaching one point onwards you're already starting to identify when someone's making a reference to the book, and sometimes it is about details or events you've yet to encounter yourself but you know this has to be a reference, it most definitely is, and you proceed to stand there stunlocked for a minute or two trying to parse if that shit's entirely made up or precisely accurate when it very much could be just satire or hyperbole but you have no way to know
