Hi folks, this is Taluns/ Jordan here. I was the creator, Art Director and Community Manager of Paleo Pines, and I spent the last few months running this blog.  It's with a heavy heart that I’m announcing that I will no longer be running this blog. I have left Italic Pig and the Paleo Pines team due to creative & professional differences. I wish the team the best moving forward with the project. This blog will be defunct and will no longer update. It will remain online for everyone to revisit the art and videos however. If Italic Pig choose to create a new Paleo Pines blog, I will be sure to create another update and forward you all to it. In the meantime you can keep up with development on the official twitter account.

The Paleo Pines community brought me immeasurable joy over the last few months and I would like to thank every one of you for making this experience so fulfilling. When I would have a bad day, I would pop online and see some great fanart or funny speculation that would instantly lift my heart back up.  Game development can be tough and stressful, but that always put that all into perspective, reminded me what we were working so hard for. It really helped to ground me during those tough times. Thank you everyone, I will never forget this.

Say hi to Owynn! A researcher and resident dino-nerd in Paleo Pines Give him the chance and he’ll talk your ear off about dinos for 5 hours. His three fav things are milky coffee, Gallimimus flocks and a good statistic.

He’ll provide your first glimpse into dino care, such as building appropriate enclosures and supplying their favourite plants, toys and diet He’s more than eager to help, and can eventually be recruited to help run your ranch!

PALEO PINES FAQ

Concise list of FAQ’s that will be updated regularly!

When is the release date? Exact date TBD but we’re aiming for 2021!

What consoles will it be on? We’re currently developing for PC, and will hopefully bring PPines to Switch down the line.  Other consoles TBD. ✨Wishlist on Steam: HERE✨

What dinosaurs will be in the game? Is ____ gonna be included? We currently have a list of 50 different dinos to find and tame in the game! The only place to find all the confirmed dinos is on the  >DISCORD SERVER< The full list is being kept under wraps for now, keep an eye out for more dinos as we release ‘em ;) Side note: There’s literally hundreds of prehistoric animals we’d love to showcase in the game, but time and budget demands us keep it to a reasonable number initially. Fingers crossed the game is successful and we can continue to add in new rosters of animals!

Are there going to be other prehistoric animals? Yes! I’ve been addressing everything as “dinos” for the sake of brevity, but some archosaurs, synapsids and pterosaurs will be popping up along your journey!

Will it be multiplayer? In order to release Paleo Pines for y’all as soon as we can, multiplayer will unfortunately not be included upon initial release. We’re a small team and multiplayer of this scope is a huge endeavour all on its own, and could take months to perfect. But it certainly is on the table, we’d love nothing more than to bring cute dinosaur co-op and player trading to the game. We want to take the time to do it right!✨

How much will it be? Is it free? We are developing a premium game experience for PC/Switch, so I can confirm it will not be free. By doing this we can avoid irritating free-to-play/ pay-to-win game design and micro transactions. Nobody wants those, we just want to explore with cute dinos at our own pace!

Other things I can confirm:

You are not ‘catching’ the dinos, you’re taming them!

You CAN pet them!

You can name them

Dinos will never die or kill each other. If you neglect your dinos, they’ll simply leave your ranch

The player character model is gender neutral, and can be customised and accessorised to the player’s choosing

The dinosaurs will follow modern scientific depictions. That means feathers, protofeathers and known colouration when possible!
