“You’ve got to be joking” - some kinda double-feature with the black cat au's genma/kourubi (since you asked for it!) and itachi/ryou

First time writing GenKou, this should be fun!

When Ryou asked if Kourubi wanted to bring her kinda-boyfriend Genma around for a double date, she hadn’t really been sure what to think. Partially because she and Genma hadn’t yet totally decided what sort of relationship they had (save for a close friendship that’d blossomed into…something else), and partially because Ryou hadn’t actually told Kourubi who he was bringing as his date. Ryou not telling her things rarely boded well.

It’d been easy enough to pass off Umeko to Naruto for the night. Kourubi adored how much her sunshine liked spending time with Genma’s daughter. She couldn’t help but feel like, if things had been different, he would have made an excellent big brother. And part of her mind wondered if there was a way he still could be. But she quickly chased that thought away. It was way too soon to think about such things, especially when nothing official had been said.

Still, it was nice when Genma reached out to take her hand as they walked.

When they arrived, however, Ryou was no where in sight. Not in the restaurant, not outside it, not even across the street at the bar. That was when Kourubi had the idea to peek down the dark, narrow alley between buildings.

And there was Ryou, making out with Itachi of all people.

“Oh, you’ve got to be joking!” she shouted, startling the two from their passion.

She knew Itachi had been brought back in. She’d heard from Ryou that he’d been put in charge of his rehabilitation, since he’d done such a good job with Sasuke (apparently). But this…this was officially insane.

Ryou acted as if nothing was wrong, because of course he did. “Kourubi! There you are. When did you get here.”

“Just now, and we’re on time, thankyouverymuch.”

Genma chuckled a little. “We would have been early if she had her way.”

“At least then we wouldn’t have to see that,” she said, waving vaguely in Ryou’s direction. “No body wants to see that shit.”

“What? Love?” Ryou shot back, linking his arm with Itachi’s. Itachi, at the very least, had enough shame to look mildly embarrassed.

Kourubi rolled her eyes. “I didn’t realize love included trying to choke your partner by shoving your tongue down his throat.”

“Sweetie, if I wanted to choke him, I’d shove something else down his throat,” Ryou said with a smirk. Now Itachi looked very embarrassed.

Before Kourubi could retort, Genma jumped in. “Okay! How about we go in before they give away our table, yeah? Have you been here before, Itachi? I’ve heard their cold soba is very good.”

Behind their dates’ backs, Ryou and Kourubi flipped each other off. But that’s alright. It’s how they show their love.

“Close your eyes, and hold out your hands.”

Itachi stared at Ryou with his frustratingly pretty eyes. He only looked mildly confused, but Itachi rarely looked more than mildly anything, so Ryou didn’t take it to heart.

“Why?”

Ryou wasn’t pouting, really. “Because I said so.”

Itachi still looked a bit perturbed, but did as he was told nonetheless. If he’d learned anything during his ‘rehabilitation’ with Ryou, it was that it was just best to go along with the man.

He had to try very hard to not let his eyes fly open when something warm and soft and squirmy was placed in his upturned palms.

“You can open them now.”

Itachi did, finding a small, orange kitten in his hands. It couldn’t be more than ten weeks old. So small. So delicate. Did Ryou actually trust him with such a fragile creature?

Ryou met his wide eyes with a smile. Not his signature grin that Kourubi always described as ‘shit-eating’, but a real, honest to god smile.

“She’s yours.”

I will admit it’s not my number one ship for either of them (GenRyou will always be my favorite Ryou pair, sorry not sorry) but I do find their dynamic absolutely hilarious and adorable. and I wouldn’t make it AU Canon if I didn’t like it

#6: “Is there a reason you’re naked in my bed?” for itaryou

Itachi didn’t know what to expect when he got home from his first mission since returning to the village, but this wasn’t it.

“Ryou-san,” he said calmly, “Is there a reason you’re naked in my bed?”

Ryou, whose expression up to this point had been an attempt at sultry, frowned in a very unimpressed manner. “You mean, besides the obvious?”

Itachi thought long and hard about the question. “Is…is your bed broken?”

“No.”

“Are you out of clean clothes and unable to clean them because the washing machine is broken?”

“Nope.”

Itachi, just like his brother, refused to admit he was pouting. “Then I don’t understand why you’re naked in my bed!”

Ryou, fed up with the song and dance, pulled Itachi down by his collar and kissed him.

Itachi blushed furiously when Ryou finally released him. “…oh…”

“So~” Ryou cooed. “You gonna join me?”
