Snippet 4

Higuchi joins the mafia when she’s fifteen for a lack of other options. Kuniko, her sister, is too young to work. Her mother is too ill. Her brother is dead. Her father is dead, having ruined them with bad investments before funeral arrangements emptied their accounts. It’s all down to Higuchi. 

There aren’t many places that will hire a fifteen-year-old and provide enough money for a three-person household, so she has few choices. 

Somehow, of those choices, the mafia is the best option.

When she was a little girl, before everything in her life went wrong, she’d thought she’d be a nurse one day. 

She thought she'd be healing, not dealing out more hurt. 

But the thing is that this doesn't feel wrong.

The weight of a gun in her hands is comfortable and feels easier to carry than the expectations heaped on her. 

No one here looks at her and thinks about her many failures as a daughter, sister, and woman. No one here expects her to save them, to fix every hurt they have. 

Higuchi has always been the healer, the nurturer, but maybe she doesn't have to be. 

She keeps her ability to her chest. She doesn’t need it. She’s a good shot and a good driver, and she slowly works her way up based on her own skills alone. She won’t be confined to the infirmary, relegated to bandages and stitches for the rest of her life.

Snippet #3

“Will Chuuya-san yell at me?” Ryuunosuke asks hesitantly. 

Dazai rolls his eyes.

“For fuck’s sake, Ryuu,” Gin says, shoving him to the side. In a quick series of motions, she sticks the needle through his tongue, threading the piercing through and screwing it on. 

It hurts much more than Dazai had expected, but it is still a drop in the bucket that is his pain tolerance. He runs his tongue along his teeth, satisfied with the sensation. 

“We had nothing to do with this when Chuuya-san asks,” Gin says, and then hops up on the desk. “Can you do my ears now?”

The beginning || Olicity | ITAV

Five months and a child later and Oliver was here, standing at Felicity's door, unable to move. He could hear her voice on the other side of the door, just vague sounds and maybe a tv or something. He couldn't begin to explain what was going on in his head and Diggle remained parked outside her place if he was kicked out in the first five minutes. It was plausible though really. Him being told to leave. He abandoned her and his unborn son even if he didn't know she was pregnant before he left. She should have told him.. she should have said something. It still angered him but right now, fear took its place in his eyes as he reached up and knocked on the door. This could go really well or really really bad and as he heard footsteps approaching he wanted to blot in the other direction. Before Oliver had the chance though, the door was opening and he let out the only word that would escape his lips. "Hi."

It Takes A Village || Solo Para

After the Quake Oliver flees the Island. It's not until Diggle comes to get him that he realizes what awaits him back in Starling and sends him back home from his 5 month excursion. Jan and I have this new verse started up and we'd love to include some more characters so message us if your interested and let the fun begin!

Life went on as normal and Oliver was clueless. A trend that seemed to continue on all the way on until the glades fell. He saved Tommy, his only redeeming moment throughout that night considering he killed Malcolm. His body was gone before Oliver could be positive but he looked dead and that was enough for him. 

That night his family name was tarnished and his mother was arrested for the death of hundreds and the destruction of the once glorious Glades community. 

The guilt was too much to bear and caused Oliver to leave. He didn't give warning he was just gone, off to the only place that could both harm him and save what sanity he had left. The hellish Island of Lian Yu. 

Oliver spent months there though he lest track after the first two, living off what he could with the resources he knew he had. His archery and fighting skills kept him alive and allowed him time to think.. to recover from everything that had happened. He made a new promise to himself, one in memory of all those lost in the aftermath of his mothers controlling business partner. He would not take a life. Not when he could save them.

He had proceeded to live off the Island as he intended for some time to come until a familiar face was almost taken out with a brown quilled arrow he kept on the island. Diggle. At first though he thought there was no way he'd be coming home, Oliver quickly learned of a new pressing matters that he needed to tend to. One being his mother's arrest and current imprisonment and the other making his heart stop completely.

Felicity was what?? ... It took him time to come to terms, talking from Diggle to try and give him an idea of why he was there.. of the fact that Felicity had no idea he was even there right now. There was no way he could remain home any longer and he was partially pissed because Felicity hadn't told him. Alright so he was more irritated than he let on but he put his emotions aside as he did best and made his way back to the states. 

Oliver Queen was a father. At least biologically. He needed to see her. See his son. Would Felicity even let him into the child's life? Would would come of them? As if that wasn't enough how would his family and friends react? It was a pretty good guess that there wouldn't be a welcome home party for him any time in the future.

IT TAKES A VILLAGE || Pre-Verse Solo

So where Mell and I decided to start the verse is after Felicity has had the baby and after Oliver has come back from the island (thanks to Diggle going to get him).  This is just a solo piece explaining what happened before then.  Mell is going to write one from Oliver's perspective and as characters are added, I think we'll have them write one too.  Anyways, here you go :)

In another life, she could have been thrilled.  Oliver wasn't a bad person.  He was actually rather wonderful.  In another life, maybe they could be together, and this would be the biggest blessing in the world.  But this was not another life.  This was the life where Oliver donned a hood every night to fight crime and stop people from destroying Starling City.  This was the life where she almost died at the hands of art thieves and hit men.  This was the life where she and Oliver were teammates, friends, but nothing more.

It wasn't supposed to happen, and the two of them had decided it was best to pretend it hadn't.  She had been shaken by the Dodger's collar, and he just wanted to make her feel safe.  How that had turned into them unclothed and moving together on the practice mat in the lair, she couldn't quite explain.  It had been a mistake, and now it had come back to bite her in the ass.  Now all she had to do was tell him.

Telling him ended up being a lot harder than she expected.  Every time she thought she could do it, something would pop up on her computer or Diggle would come in and before she knew it, she was sitting in the Verdant basement as the earthquake machine was going off.  Oliver managed to save Tommy before he was killed, but he did end up in the hospital.  After that Oliver completely disappeared, and Felicity found herself alone in this.

Terrified could not even describe how she felt.  Between buying baby supplies and going to doctor's appointments, keeping up her job at QC while the company crumbled and assuring Diggle she was fine, life was a bit hectic.  Eventually, she told Diggle that she was pregnant, but the identity of the baby's father was kept a secret.  Diggle began attending doctor's appointments with her, and when the baby finally came, he was there in the delivery room with her.

When the doctor asked who the father was, she didn't hesitate to give Oliver's name, but with Diggle in the room, she should have been more careful.  The look he gave her, a mixture of confusion, sympathy, and a bit of anger, made her look away, down at her beautiful son.  Steven Robert Smoak.  Steven as a tribute to Steve Jobs, who she idolized as a child.  Robert to honor Stevie's grandfather, and to have a piece of Oliver with her.  Finally, choosing Stevie's last name had been the hardest part.  On one hand, she could have chosen Queen, as Oliver was the father, but she was afraid that Stevie would grow up and be confused as to why he didn't have Mommy's last name.  Plus, with what had happened with Moira, she wasn't sure it was the right time to throw her newborn son into the limelight.  The name sounded right to her, and while she wished Oliver was there for them, she had grown comfortable knowing it was just the two of them.

Another routine settled into Felicity's life.  During the week, she would take Stevie to day care, picking him up after work and bringing him to the Verdant basement which she had worked to rebuild.  There, she helped Diggle do all that he could to help the city that was currently vigilante-less.  It was difficult to do with a newborn, but she managed.  What she didn't know was that when she would go home every night, Diggle would stay behind and continue to search for Oliver.  What would happen when Oliver finally came home?  How will he react when he finds out he has a son?  And finally, what will become of the billionaire vigilante and his IT girl?
