"The Hyacinth Cafe" is a dating simulator game with an aroace twist. You play as Micah, a young programmer who is teetering on the precipice of being a shut-in. His best and only friend Laurie shows up in his house as per usual but this time she has a proposal — "Come with me to a butler cafe! I have a booking for tomorrow morning." Upon reluctant arrival, Micah learns the real reason why Laurie wanted him to go so badly: he's going on five dates?!
To Micah's surprise, Laurie won the cafe's bi-annual lottery raffle, winning her the opportunity to go on five dates with the cafe's most sought after and popular members of staff both in the cafe and off-site. Each butler has their own style and approach to their work of keeping people company but Micah is in no position to enjoy such things!
As well as being very anti-social and poorly socialised, Micah is aro-spec and ace-spec but has never had enough experience with other people to find out if he actually feels love or lust! Laurie, knowing this, thrust him headfirst into an experience of a lifetime by nominating him in her place!
