I decided to share a personal experience: Prior to leaving the office on yesterday, I decided to make myself a to-go dinner from the leftover catered lunches in the office from last week. Rarely do I eat leftovers and even more rarer that I would be eating leftovers from a communal work setting. It was just the thought of a relaxing Monday evening watching Insecure and having a ready-made dinner of Papa’s smoked chicken, mashed potatoes, and slice of white bread that sounded awesome. I packed my made to-go in a plastic shopping bag and headed for the car. Walking to the car, I observed a stranger walking towards me and as we meet in front of the sky bridge of the parking garage we exchange greeting. As our paths cross he looks at me and says, “I look familiar, did I attend St Mary’s?” I answered, “Yes I did” he then says, “Your name begins with a W its “Walter”, man you haven’t aged much since our days on the junior usher board and in the children’s choir. “I stood Amazed by his recollection. I obviously had no clue as to who he was, so I apologized and asked his name. When he said his name, it opened a door and just like that I became flooded with memories of my church upbringing. We talked about church; with him relaying that our former Pastor is now a Bishop, and how many of the people we knew as children or now deceased. He asked how I was doing along with what, and as we continued to talk he told me his life story and where he was today. He politely asked if I had money to spare. I replied no, however I do have a dinner that you're welcome to. He accepted, and we prayed before parting ways. As I continued to the car, I realized two things: the to-go I had made wasn’t for me and that moment was a reminder to be truly grateful for God’s mercy, love, favor, abundance, and blessing. #proverbs3 #itcouldbeme #itcouldhavebeenme (at Houston, Texas) https://www.instagram.com/p/BnCt5hNHOVwgmjMFzXHTJNA4VazCq7leqLNZsQ0/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=lzh4rh1r1pll
