During each GISH Hunt, Gishers come together from around the globe to “Change A Life”, making a profound difference in the life of someone facing extraordinary hardship. In the past, we’ve rescued homeless Syrian refugee families from dire living situations; we’ve helped Rwandan female genocide survivors establish independence and be able to feed their families, and we’ve even helped clear unexploded ordnance off Laotian rural farms and established a mobile prosthetics unit for child bombing survivors.
YOUR MISSION: For this Hunt, we’re also doing something truly extraordinary: we’re joining forces with Amazon Watch to help Indigenous women whose land has been pillaged by an insidious, draconian beast wreaking havoc on their farmland: corporate greed and fossil-fuel pollution. Gishers will take up arms to help impact the lives of four entire communities of Indigenous women and their families. Their land has been destroyed by an irresponsible corporation’s oil pollution, stealing their ability to grow food and bringing unimaginable tragedy, sickness, and even death upon their communities. Together, we’re going to help them revitalize their crops, restore their way of life, and support their fight to help their families regain their health and battle for their own sovereignty.
WHAT TO DO: Create a fundraiser here, create a Fundraising “page” for your team, and get family, friends, and others to donate. Since this is GISH and there’s always an extra twist to everything we do, here’s the deal: we also want you to get OTHERS to donate to your GoFundMe page. We know you don’t need “points” as an incentive to help these families, but since it is part of the Hunt, we want to maximize the power of these points to help.
Get at least 10 donations from friends, family, individuals or businesses NOT on your team. You and your team members are welcome to donate to your campaign, but that is not a requirement for points— the Item requirement is to get at least 10 people to make a cumulative total of least 10 donations from donors who are NOT on your team. There is no minimum to donate for GISH purposes, but GoFundMe does require a minimum $10 donation to be collected, and let’s all please encourage others to be generous so we can make a profound impact. If for any reason your team is unable to (or chooses not to) join this campaign, you may still get points for this Item by volunteering at least two hours of your time with any relief organization providing relief to Indigenous communities that have been impacted by environmental policies or organizations that have been irresponsible on their ancestral land. SUBMIT PROOF YOU HAVE DONE THIS.
