the ITH characters’ halloween costumes

yo yo yo its still spooky night here (although…this halloween was a total bust for me) so i thought i’d put together a lil thing for yall !

usnavi: he was a BIG halloween fan as a kid, ever since he was little (’87, halloween). an older usnavi usually goes as something with not a lot of work put into it, but is still a costume (a skeleton suit, vampire makeup, etc.). he focuses WAY more on the actual giving candy part of halloween.

sonny: okay so he is THAT halloween bitch. as a kid, he and his mom would have cute lil halloween costumes that correlated perfectly (thx mel!), and everyone loved them. as sonny grew older, they did less matching costumes and he did more of the scary theme than anything else. he’ll always stick to his scary theme, unless one year he decides to go as something funny.

vanessa: vanessa’s always been the girl who went as the badass girl characters in movies/tv shows. wonder woman? been there, done that! the bride from kill bill? check! black widow? yepperooni! she’s that gal!

nina: she went as hermione granger one year when she was 14/15. one of her favorite costumes she’s ever done. she also used to go as tv show characters that she liked a lot.

benny: it doesn’t seem like it, but benny gets into the halloween spirit. he LOVES joining sonny in dressing up as something scary. he’s a little goofy with his scary costumes (sometimes they’re not so scary) but you can never break the benny spirit.

daniela: daniela will go as whatever she thinks of the day before halloween. she never really cared about the holiday, just that she had to get candy and have dinner and dress up. she’ll still get into the spirit, but she won’t tolerate any of sonny’s “it’s october 1st! it’s halloween!” crap.

carla: a halloween costume LEGEND. carla goes all fucking out every year. she enjoys dressing up as funny things, scary things, nostalgic things, cute things, and one year, a sexy thing. that didn’t last long, she didn’t really like how degrading it was. nonetheless, nothing you could ever say could change her mind about halloween. it’s the best holiday!

pete: a fucking sheet ghost. every year. for a creative guy, he’s not so good at costumes.

Can I have some Benny propasal headcanons!!

of course!! it took me a little to think of what i was gonna do for this one,, but i think i’ve got a good idea ! if it isn’t what you were looking for, let me know!!

so,, to start this off,, benny reaLLY cares about you

he is forever trying to make you happy, and it’s honestly some of the cutest stuff ever??

like,, for your first date, he went around the barrio and asked everyone about you

what your favorite things were,, what you’d always pictured in a first date,, what the guy of your dreams was like

llet’s just say, he aced the first date. 

you two are the neighborhood’s favorite couple 

besides usnavi and vanessa

everyone always comments on the way benny just utterly loves you,,

and they always think it’s cute that you’re always talking about him, because i mean, who wouldn’t??

but when it came time to your proposal,, he had absolutely no idea what to do

usnavi can vouch for this first hand;; he had to witness the many days benny would come into the bodega and just sit on the counter

sometimes he would talk,, and sometimes he would play with his tie 

other times,, he would ask usnavi endless questions on what might be good ─ he had an idea,, he just

he needed confirmation that it was good

after he f i n a l l y got the idea perfected, he faced the problem of getting the ring

benny doesn’t have all the money in the world,,

but he knows you deserve the best so,,

he asked usnavi (again) for some money

of course usnavi happily gave him enough to buy the ring he wanted

it was absolutely beautiful, 

definitely a dream engagement ring

where he proposed was definitely the most beautiful thing

after asking sonny to distract you for a second, he went up to the roof of abuela’s old building

of course he had to make some magic happen to get there, but he managed it

he set everything up for a night under the stars

blankets, food,, the whole nine yards

then he got you up there,,

he covered your eyes and only told you to open them once you were right on the blankets

while you were looking over new york at night,,

which he will forever say was one of the most beautiful sights in the world,,

he dropped down to one knee, pulled out the ring,, and with these words, and i quote,

“you make me the happiest i’ve ever been. i don’t want to know what life is like without you, and i know if i keep talking i’m going to start crying, and i do not want to turn into a blubbering mess, so, y/n, will you do me the greatest honor in the whole damn world and marry me?”

of course you said yes.

then, you at the food he laid out, while also in slight tears because damn, he was the love of your life and he was amazing.

he will never, never never never forget that day. 

neither will you.

lil sonnypete action

• so like pete n sonny go to thrift shops and try on the ugliest stuff just for fun and laughs when they got nothing else to do

• like one time sonny put on a striped polo that was like triple XL and it was a fuckin dress on him and had on those grandpa glasses

• pete put on one of those fur coats and plaid pajama pants wayy too big for him and a “#1 dad” bucket hat

• they took a picture like the dorks they are (its still one of sonny’s favorite photos of them)

• sonny had the picture as his phone background for a long time because he loved it so much

• they’re NERDS!!!

usnavi and his cat

• it's 5am. usnavi is opening the bodega, still rubbing his eyes because yes he's tired who wouldn't be

• not fully awake, he practically jumps 5 feet in the air when he feels something brush past his leg

• he looks down and its an lil cat!!!! a fluffy black & white cat just sittin by the grate, lookin up at him

• he looks around ,, like "wtf who's...cat..." and doesn't see any type of identification on the cat so he opens the bodega and goes inside, assuming its just gonna stay out there

• yet when he goes inside, the cat follows right after him and sits by the bottom of the counter as he unlocks the register and tries to start his day

• yo he's tryna ignore this RANDOM ASS cat but u know usnavi...he can't....

• also he can't help but feel for this cat so he goes into the back and searches for some appropriate food for this lil kitty so it doesn't starve

• when he comes back with some homemade cat food and a bowl of water,, the cat is still sitting where it was, patiently waiting for him

• and that's how sonny came in at 12pm to see usnavi petting a cat, who was sitting on the counter eating some chicken

• "his name is victor, we own him now"

im CONVINCED when nina was 4 and usnavi was like 9ish, she would force him to do little plays in front of the entire barrio with her. LIKE HOW CUTE

she would find play scripts in abuela’s home and make him memorize them with her and perform them at potluck dinners her parents organized.

usnavi was not the best actor, he was too monotonous. even tiny infant sonny would laugh at this ngl (my headcanon is that he’s been living with his cousin and aunt&uncle since he was a baby)

nina was WAY too dramatic when it came to these plays, yet vanessa was always there right in front, clapping away. best friends 4 life!!

little things that make up the ITH couples

usnavi/vanessa: coffee. everyone knows usnavi gave vanessa free coffee every day back when he was still crushing on her and he STILL does it, and he knows her coffee order so well he can do it blindfolded. also he makes it before they open so its ready for her when she comes in. vanessa likes to try and make usnavi’s coffee sometimes as a joke, too. and once, they switched coffee orders and vanessa thought his was too bitter but he had drank half of hers in under a minute, making her laugh really hard. he swears he falls in love all over again when she laughs.

benny/nina: books. benny didn’t like to read as a kid, but when he grew up and started dating nina, he’d drop everything if nina wanted to read with him. on some days, when it’s pouring outside, they sit on their couch, with nina reading some giant classical book and benny listening. he loves her voice. nina got him into reading, so much so that he would ask her to read books to him on the phone while she was in stanford and he would follow along with his own copy, 3,000 miles away.

sonny/pete: hugs and forehead kisses. we all know sonny is TINY and pete’s got a good five inches on him. the height difference is perfect for them, because sonny fits right into the crook of pete’s neck, and he’s the perfect height for pete to cup his boyfriend’s face and place a lil kiss on his forehead or temple. sonny playfully tells pete to fight him, and that he’ll grow, don’t worry.

.,this is just for fun ! i might do more of a serious post later but this was inspired by a buzzfeed quiz

usnavi: quietly seething as he searches the warehouse for the SPECIFIC piece of furniture he needs

sonny: sneaking into the ball pit and daycare

nina: actually looking at furniture that would look good in her dorm back in california

vanessa: laying on the beds, calming herself down before she strangles usnavi for forgetting where his piece of furniture is in the warehouse, MULTIPLE TIMES

benny: eating meatballs in the dining area, and buying truckloads of swedish fish

pete: also eating meatballs, but keeping an eye on sonny in the daycare through the plexiglass (making sure he doesnt hurt any small children)

carla: marveling over the layouts of the rooms and wishing she had them

daniela: making fun of the layouts of the rooms
