Do you have a Eurylochus or Ctimene design? I'm gay.

i'm gay too so i'll hold your hand when i tell you this, i had a few sketches but I can't find em.

having said that, I have a few headcanons on Ctimene actually. brace yourself, fellow gay one

she's taller than her brother by a good handspan, with the same dark curls but hers are more sun-bleached at the ends. same swarthy skin, more freckles though. she's got the same wit as her bro but none of the patience and diplomacy. she'd like start a conversation with a stranger by insulting their sandals and somehow lead it to find out their grandmother's barley cakes recipe. lives very much in present. Odysseus can scheme for years, positioning pieces where he needs them to be, the works, Ctimene, unlike that guy, improvises in real-time and somehow!! lands on her feet and laughing!! they both have something to learn from each other, basically. that's how I like my sibling dynamics

Who wins in a fight, 200 clones of Odysseus or one Penelope. All of the Odysseus clones have shock collars and Penelope has the remote controller AND laser eyes

Also what is your opinion on Odysseus' non-Penelope kids? To be specific, Telegonus, Nausithous, and Nausinous. If you do care for them, how do you imagine them as characters? Especially Nausithous and Nausinous because we know nothing about them

I don't think there are losers in this one, the 200 clones are lucky bastards

his and Calypso's sons being named after his greatest desire, that is to say - to leave, always gets me though. (swift ship, ship-minded) but that's just the interpretation I personally like. they're children of captivity, so complicated inheritance, this sort of thing does a lot to a kid. god, the angst potential. might make some art of them in future hmm

and I raise you, what about the quietly shelved post-war kid of Penelope and Odysseus: Poliporthes, eh, eh?

If you had to rank these epics from your least favorite to favorite, how would you rank them? Iliad, Odyssey, Aeneid, and the Epic of Gilgamesh

giving me an excuse to yap which is very appreciated! almost impossible to rank works that are so important

anyway, least is Aeneid. the politics are there, certainly. Virgil knew what he was about. still my mind wandered a lot. and that click i didn't find matters when you're reading something for pleasure imo! still thinking about the book 9 line though. one about whether gods light the fire in our hearts or does everyone's mad desire become their god. THAT HAD TEETH

Epic of Gilgamesh next, harder to rank than I anticipated. originally lumped it with the Odyssey, but no. some of the earliest human literature, and what humans decided to preserve was a story about two men loving each other!! one of them dying!! then Gilgamesh becoming obsessed with finding immortality. doesn't conquer death. so ... goes back to being king of Uruk. understands that a person can become immortal only through, ironically enough, making peace with human mortality and building legacy. the premise makes me salivate, so good

Odyssey and Iliad as second and first respectively. the Odyssey second though definitely first in terms of boldness. teaching survival after catastrophe, a long way home and all that. which many folks can relate to then and now. and Odysseus, yep I'll mention him, he's introduced without divine pedigree, just a mortal man. complicated, as Wilson would say, heh. deliciously cheeky really, it really is a myth of an ordinary bastard floundering through situations and once he gets introduced it's quite literally the whole "you're probably wondering how I got here!" thing pff

the Iliad first. the characters ‼️ can watch them move, clash, retreat from the carnage. it's obsessed with death where Odyssey is with survival. ends with a funeral for a reason too. Homer really went: here are your tragic idiots, watch them bleed. isn't that just magnificent. usually I go read whumpy fanfics for this type of feeling

Who is your favorite greek mythology character with zero information about them?? Like characters who the only things we know about them is their name and MAYBE their parent's names. And how do you personally characterize them? Me personally I love Euippe (Diomedes' wife in Italy) and Comaetho (Diomedes' sister)

hmm! okay, the iceberg model feels apt here (my excuse to yap about more characters - even those that we have some info about - at once)

on the top: the Epigoni, and yes, I'm aware they are quite popular ( at least in the fandom space I lurk in) and we do have info about em. the Argive boys who finished what their fathers couldn't and finally brought down seven-gated Thebes. in the Iliad they're a footnote, though. Sthenelus and Euryalus get the odd mention and that's your lot. unsatisfying, if you ask me! hence why they're here at the top. Palamedes belongs up here too I guess. brilliant man, invented several things depending on which source you trust, framed for treason, executed/killed in several different ways depending on which source you trust too. would Rhesus count up here? he's a bit more renowned too but whatever, I love that deeply unlucky man with excellent horses, 10/10 would discuss further

middle of the iceberg: Meriones. I will die on this hill. he and Idomeneus are one of the most functional partnerships in the entire Iliad. there's even a scholarly reading of Meriones as a ritual substitute figure for Idomeneus, so a therapon, essentially, how interesting is that. concept of "therapon" as the readiness to die for someone, delicious

and the bottom of the iceberg are Antenor's sons haha, collectively as a unit. that guy has, what, approximately seventeen sons mentioned across various sources? they show up throughout the Iliad in various states of dying.
