"Now, Muses, let us begin to sing of younger men ..."
@diomedesweek
thought about them and broke down crying
It’s been a long since I’ve drawn them so I finished this part of my epigoni cuddle puddle WIP,, my favs I’m afraid <3
Diomedes' bleeding hand...a spear dipped in godly ichor and a shield slowly oxidizing as the age of bronze and heroes comes to an end...
Thank you 🫵 @neddomosed for our amazing logo!!
What if Tydeus carved a little boar figurine when he was exiled, sheltered in a cave, for two days just sitting there as he waited for the rain to stop, tears running down his face as he carves the little figurine, thinking about his big brother(s) he never got to meet and his little brothers last breath caused by his own hand
He takes it with him, he comes to Argos, he marries and his son is born
It becomes his sons first toy, the little boy holds it in his hands when his father marches to Thebes and dies for his new brother-in-law
Fifteen years later a boy sits among soldiers holding the little figure closed in his fist praying for his fathers strength
When he's become king he goes to his fathers home to help his grandfather restore him to his throne, but on his way home his grandfather is murdered and as it rains Diomedes takes shelter in the same cave, still holding on to the little wooden boar as tears stream down his cheeks for all the father figures he's lost
A small HC for the Argive Trio (Diomedes Sthenelus Euryalus)
They are horrendous cookers. I’m talking about kitchen-nuking level of bad. Because they were raised to be warriors ever since they were little and barely learn any household things back then, they naturally turned some basic daily tasks in to something way too extreme. They could be cooking a single egg in to a burnt ashy abomination and they can still go on like,
Sthenelus: Yall think this’ll do? Or we wait for another 5 minutes?
Euryalus: I say we wait for twice as long, for the crispy texture.
Diomedes: What if we ramp up the fire?
Sthenelus: Holy shit we’re damn good chef.

What is it?
A week long event where people are encouraged to write fic, create art, headcanons, playlist, cosplays and whatever you can think of, all themed around the Theban cycle and characters. We will provide a list of prompts you can use as inspiration for the event.
Which characters are involved?
A lot! Any character with strong ties to Thebes or the Theban cycle is a part of the event. The main works relevant to Thebes are the seven against thebes, the epigoni, the theban plays and the bacchae/Dionysus, but this event isn't limited to solely these works. Check out this post for a more complete overview or to use as inspiration.
We've grouped the characters thematically, but you're free to mix and match, create works for just one character or several of them!
The linked post also provides links to free digital translations, if you want to learn more!
What are the prompts?
Day 1 — Legacy/Family
Day 2 — The Curse of Thebes
Day 3 — Cults/Gods
Day 4 — Prophecy/Rituals
Day 5 — Exile/Transformation/Transition
Day 6 — AU/Universe Alteration/Alternate Ending
Day 7 — Free Day
When is the event taking place?
From the 27th of October to the 2nd of November
