i made an account on idv in 2020, became an active player from 2023-early 2025, and only recently came back into the game just a few weeks ago because a friend got me invested in marcus and hernando lore (lol). and just as im getting back into idv, learning how to play cueist and matador, grinding for medals of my mains, its revealed they’re now using ai. in the game that once upon a time gave me chills with their art style alone.

idv has done a lot for me. i have close friends who i never would’ve met if i hadnt been playing idv in class back in 2023. coa 7 was everything to me when it first released. and dont even get me started on ithaqua. this guy was my entire personality through my senior year of high school, and still holds a special place in my heart. ithaqua was my first hunter main, luca my first surv main, and im so incredibly thankful that neither of them have (to my knowledge) had official art of them made with ai. because i think it would genuinely shatter me to see ithaqua and all that he stands for ruined like that.

that’s how i already feel seeing that dasein’s art was made with ai, and the possibility that marcus’s name might be ai generated too. i got heavily invested in these characters, even got the dusk of dark requiem skin, and then netease ruined it all. i sincerely hope that joker studios separates from netease, or at least that the ai content in idv gets fixed and artists get hired back.

in the meantime, all we can do is just not give up. i know april 23 is supposed to be the “boycott date”, but ive already stopped playing the game completely, at least until they get rid of the ai. if you want to watch coa i recommend watching through zeez or another streamer instead of directly through the idv channel. netease stocks are going down and every server is full of people supporting the boycott. dont let that stop until we get what we want.

the background of the art above is a collage of my favorite ithaqua official arts that were drawn by real artists. ithaqua to me is a character defined by the many different ways people draw him, he ranges from silly to scary to sweet in a way that wouldnt be possible if not for the many amazing artists who created him.

Did u know the recent summer map confirmed ithaqua to be below 21 because he was one of the only two hunters(the other being Robbie) who couldn't be served alcoholic drinks on the map lmaooo 😭,,,,grown ass man having to sit at the kiddie table with his orange juice,,,,,the martha of hunter faction
