Hii I think my eldritch horror gf is transforming me (F22) into one of her kind. (Inky goop coming out of my orifices, tentacles from my back, that sorta jazz) I'm fully into it, but are there any ways to make this safer? Thanks!!

Howdy, Your Local Lorekeeper here—

So, as you may know, it's November! The year is almost up, and last month I accomplished... absolutely nothing. Burn out, mental health, work, and real life shenanigans have completely taken away any drive to be present. I'll be here, but slowly.

I have no progress to report whatsoever on The Descent Down Below, but that it's still a WIP. I don't know if I'll do anymore edits or updates to the project after some things came up that still...make me rather angry and annoyed that happened, but oh well. It is what it is. Still probably gonna work on it, but until I'm in a better headspace, I'm taking a break away from the project.

This isn't me scrapping it completely. Just a well-needed breather because my brain has 47 tabs open, one's playing music, two are frozen, and the mouse is missing. Yaaaay ADHD. Love that for me.

In lighter news, I will be doing something for NaNoWriMo this year! I'm afraid if I say too much more I'll lose the muse, but I'm kind of excited to write it, suffice to say! Stay tuned, y'all! ✨

IN OTHER NEWS i think mistystar should have been a victim of mapleshade's curse but she keeps getting extremely lucky and her survival is a defiance of the odds and it INFURIATES mapleshade. She just has luck on her side and she KEEPS SURVIVING.

plus crookedstar gets a satisfying final conclusion in OOTS where instead of going for Sandstorm, Mapleshade tries to kill Mistystar but she gets defended by her uncle, who, in a vicious struggle, becomes the victor and tells his niece he's so, so proud of the leader she's become

So Stonebinder, an ancient demigod from the far side who is so old he's like a boogeyman type entity, now forgive me but i got infodumped last night while watching LoTR about maiars and dogs in that setting so i'll ask a bit about Stonebinder, you called him an "ancient demigod" which means i assume he's been around as long as curses have been, or something similar, but you said his purpose was to collect curses, was it a task given to him by a higher force or was he brought into existence by the existence of curses, what other kinds of demigods exist in atmos, are there higher beings than demigods in atmos, is he immortal or functionally immortal until he's killed, so on and so forth i could ask pedantic questions like this forever so i'll stop here

So this is all stuff that I've talked about in the Discord server, but I haven't had a good way to talk about it here on Tumblr, so thank you for the opportunity to infodump like a madwoman :3

Yes, Stonebinder is an ancient demigod who has been relegated to a bogeyman figure in stories come present-day Atmos.

However I wouldn't say he's 'from' the Far Side. In a way, he predates it, coming from a time when Atmos was whole, and not split in two by the Barrier Cliffs. His ancient curse libraries are dotted around both sides of Atmos, lying abandoned, but not unprotected. A few curses still reside within them, active and tormenting their victims. Many have simply died out as their targets left the mortal coil.

Stonebinder is indeed ancient. Older than most of recorded history in fact, but curses have existed since before the beginning of Atmos. An ancient eldritch 'god' creature known as the Vow embodies curses, pacts and promises, and that is the creature that Stonebinder draws his power from.

Oh boy, oh boy you have opened a can of worms here Peregrine, brace yourself XD I'm putting it and the rest of this post under the cut, otherwise this is going to get so long.

So in my lore, 'demigods', aka Champions, are not born naturally. They're born mortal, and if they happen to perform a feat of great renown (saving a whole Terra, defeating an entire army singlehandedly, discovering and learning to weild a fantastic new crystal, etc) a Giant will pick them up and offer them immortality and the ability to channel the power of the eldritch gods. Giants are very powerful beings in my lore, and capable of imbuing tools, weapons, and even living creatures with elemental power, turning them into conduits for the elements without the need of a crystal (I made Gundstaff a rather weak giant in comparison to his brethren, and not many giants exist in Atmos these days). This power does have a price though, but I'll get into that in another post one day.

Stonebinder was originally a mortal cyclops and powerful curse mason until a giant saw his talent for curses and offered to make him into a demigod Champion. He accepted, and now we have a cold, cruel immortal whose power frightens even the giants at times.

There are many other demigod Champions in my lore. Most Champions have been reduced to stories, but some still live on today. A good few of them roam around the Far Side, helping people where they can. Arygyn is one Champion who wanders 'our' side of Atmos, though he keeps it tightly under wraps these days. It draws too many questions.

Yes, Stonebinder is functionally immortal until he's killed, however it is very difficult to kill him. Mortals wouldn't be able to lay a single scratch on him no matter how hard they tried. My version of Atmos exists in a hierarchy of raw power, and mortals are at the bottom of that hierarchy. Above them are elemental creatures like phoenixes, then Champions, then the giants, and then the Eldritch. The only thing that could possibly have a chance to kill Stonebinder is another Champion or another creature higher up than him in the hierarchy, however due to his age and connection to a particularly powerful Eldritch, the Vow, he's among the strongest of Champions and even outranked some low-level giants when there were more of them around.

Okay, I think that's every question answered XD And that's not even all the lore I have. I'm hoping this all makes sense.

You know I have followed you for years and you're a bit of enigma, but I never once remembering seeing anything about what you do for a living and I just can't help but be curious. What is it you do for a living? No pressure to answer if not comfy, just a curious follower ^^

Recently I've started doing a bit of weekly video editing for a friend who pays me because it saves her a huge amount of time.

I co-own her company (FableScraps) which focuses on digital media content production (twitch streaming TTRPGs) and tabletop game development. We have a completely original game world and system called Issliss which is kind of a gritty survival horror thing set in a world ruled by intelligent monsters where humans are very much not the dominant species, and it has heavy themes of cooperation and organized rebellion against a fascist ruling class. The player group is called "the cell" in the rulebook.

I had some input on the game design (mainly the dice system), but the vast majority of the work was done by others.

Currently we have a quickplay guide available through the website and fully playable, but it's still in active development and there will be a full scale player's guide book later, MAYBE by the end of the year.

The primary antagonists for the first book/campaign are the Kasat, a species of giant spider people who use humans as a subjugated labor class. They also appear on the cover art:

Also player stats are called "VECTORS" because the character sheets are framed almost like dossiers written by the ruling class

The system is built for streamlined combat encounters so more time can be spent on roleplay and survival. Almost all rolls are made with 3d6, and a single 3d6 roll covers both your attack and damage. Using skills you're not proficient with requires a 2d6 roll (i.e. it's a lot harder to succeed) and doing it with "Synergy" (we have a whole system for this, basically help from another player) allows you to bump the roll up to a 4d6.

Systems like "Rival" NPC encounters (recurring antagonists) and "Showdowns" (more cinematic and high stakes combat) are still being developed.

I also have my own homebrew world that I'm slowly working on myself (the Uneiverse) which will hopefully move a lot faster once my ADHD is actually being treated. I want to write (at least one) book that takes place in that world, and very possibly adapt it as a system agnostic campaign setting. All of my homebrew experience thus far has been with 5e (my Witch class especially, and I currently have .... two additional ideas for homebrew classes) since that's the only system I have experience with, but Paizo has some interesting stuff for homebrew content so I may end up learning Pathfinder to adapt it for that. If it gets released as a campaign setting it will probably be done through FableScraps in some capacity.

can mc physically interact with beacon?

the short answer is no:( 

the long answer is no but eventually. Spoilers under the cut~

It’ll be explained better in the game(hopefully) but eldritch beings have a weird relationship with physical forms, especially migrating from one environment to another. While they are capable of adapting to whatever new environment they find themselves in, it requires a ton of energy and possibly time(shorter than regular evolution for animals) but still, we are talking a scale of decades, maybe longer, given their feeding and hibernation cycles. 

Beacon is both advantaged and disadvantaged by the Lighthouse. I’m going to be vague but the Lighthouse is both a home and prison for them. The Bedrock Society has engineered it in a way to limit Beacon’s abilities until they deem Beacon worthy of accessing them again. 

Currently, Beacon appears to mc as a shadow, more or less. They do not take up any physical space on land. They pass through objects and can not physically interact with anything, including mc. (fear not folks who wish to smooch the Eldritch being!) This form is not the only form Beacon currently inhabits nor is it the only one they will ever take on in the story;)
