Something I don’t see mentioned or talked about enough is how without Tommy, travel would be a much much different story on the Dream SMP.
The original Prime Path, the one above ground, was created by Dream, although he didn’t create the entire thing.
When Tommy joined, he quickly took to the Prime Path. He was the one who discovered that walking on the path resulted in more primes than running (hence why he only walks on it).
Tommy is the only one who would really upkeep the path. It would get destroyed a lot, be it creepers, TNT, or other means. Tommy would be the one to go out of his way to get slabs and fix the path, replace the blocks, and even at times, the surroundings. Tommy also built pretty much the whole Prime Path past his house. This includes the path which leads to L’manburg and to Skeppy’s base.
Then you have the Underground Prime Path, the one which leads to Pogtopia. This path became really vital for the Manburg v. Pogtopia war as well as the spy job for Tubbo, and how Pogtopia could sneak back into the country. Tommy practically built this path on his own, and it is hundreds of blocks long. Not to mention he built the highway just above and a rail system straight to Pogtopia for the war.
Tommy also created the sewer system, which many of the older houses and buildings have access to (such as his own house and the community house). These have been used many, many times for escapes and get aways, as well as just fast travel. These have been used throughout many wars, fights, and other occurrences. Many chase scenes have happened down there.
Then you have the Nether Highways, all three of the main ones leading from the Nether Hub (not the ice one) was built by Tommy. He built two highways during exile from two directions. These highways are now used and have been branched off from to get to other places. He also built the path from Techno’s base to the obsidian highway. Techno, Phil, and Ranboo, as well as anyone heading to that base now use those paths. Before they had to do scuffed parkour through a Basalt delta. Now people use the highways to get to other nether portals and places.
Tommy has created nearly every main path and road on the server which leads to main locations. Think of how much these are used for shortcuts. How many times they’ve been used in lore. The sewers alone have been used dozens of times in lore (chase scenes, fights, Techno & Tommy sneaking in to L’manburg, Techno’s escape from the execution, etc). The roads from Pogtopia to Manburg were used in war and for lore. The highways now are constantly used.
Its something subtle, but without these paths I think, honestly, a lot of things would be different or may not even exist or have happened? I just think it’s very cool how something that seems so insignificant is actually so incredibly big?
It’s even been mentioned before. Tommy and his Towers and Roads. He has no big or impressive builds on the server, but he has created almost all main sources of travel on the SMP and they’re some of the oldest and longest standing creations on the server.
