going on xiaohongshu is really funny because everything on there is so oddly welcoming but sooo heavy on information-seeking. every other post is language learning tips or questions about how people are living on the other side. (generally chinese people being appalled at how we're living lol) people are sussing out correct posting etiquette (like making sure to provide mandarin translations when posting in english). they're explaining culturally-specific memes to each other. they're posting comparative infographics. there's this general consensus that the people on the other side are very nice and that it's fun to share our cultures back and forth. there's something heartening and hilarious about the us government trying to drum up sinophobia and getting "fuck you, we're going to go hang out somewhere even more chinese" as a response

yknow. its funny. listening to this year is tradition, especially for doing as the countdown ends, but i like... i dunno. i feel like it wasnt if it kills me this year. i made it through this year without thinking much about dying at all.

I'm just really proud of her - like her results are nice and stuff but she's settling well in a hectic environment, she's focused in the ring and steady on the table, initiates contact with every person that comes within reach (without being rude) and just ignores all the dogs and ruckus. Doing this show season has been really affirming for us, and today was the best she's been so far.
