writing below ;
You pushed past the people on the staircase, heart thudding in your chest. You felt an overwhelming sense of responsibility for these people, even though you may only know a handful of people here. The scene you witnessed in the upstairs bathroom sent you into a fight-or-flight reaction.
Lyle Hampton, the host of this party, had arranged it in order to have a little fun. He was charming and managed to lure a few people upstairs, which is where he... god.
You felt sick just thinking about what happened.
You stumbled into a girl on your way down, she steadied you and apologized for splashing some of her liquor on your shirt. She wasn't expecting you to grip her arm tightly, a scared look in your eyes.
"You need to run, take everyone else, and leave as quietly as you can." You whispered, not once taking your eyes off of hers. She made a face and jerked her arm from you, heading upstairs anyway.
Your heart dropped, but you didn't chase after her, just hoping that she didn't take a turn to the bathroom. You continued down, taking a sharp turn and warning anyone you came across.
No one listened though.
God, you were trying to save these people without an outbreak of panic. Why doesn't anyone care?
You gave it one last shot before you saved yourself and called the authorities. You snagged someone by the kitchen, pulling the tall man close and giving him the same serious stare you'd been serving all night.
"Please, you have to leave." You rasped, "Something horrible happened upstairs and if we don't leave, we're going to die."
His eyes widened and he glanced around at the other party-goers, "What about--"
You shook your head, "No one is listening, please I have to help someone."
He stared back a little unsure, but when he saw the pleading in your eyes he began to nod slowly, "Okay, okay."
With a sigh of relief, you took his hand and lead him out the back, and left the party together. You called for help, but they didn't get there in time to save everyone.
