Chapter 13

“You got what?” Tom asked. He knew what she had said but he didn’t believe it. He needed her to repeat it for it to be real.

“Fired, Tom. I got fired.” Anna wasn’t looking at Tom, she was looking past him. Making eye contact with him was something she couldn’t do when she was so confused, so hurt, so enraged. Tom took steps to get closer to Anna, but she put her hand up, as if to pause him. She didn’t want his comfort. Not yet at least. She just wanted to stand there, processing it. A few moments passed when Tom finally couldn’t take it any longer.

“Anna, please, what happened?”

Chapter 12

Anna and Tom spent the majority of that week apart. Tom was so busy with meetings, press, and business dinners, that he wouldn’t get back to the hotel until after 9 or later each night. When Tom got to the room, Anna would be there waiting for him with either a drink or boiling water for tea, depending on the type of day Tom had. They would talk about their days, have a cuddle, and just enjoy the little time they had together before Tom had to leave again.

Tom was doing so much press there wasn’t a day that went by that his name wasn’t in some sort of gossip article with a myriad of different rumors. Anna was still in her media blackout, but Luke and Tom’s American PR team were in contact with him about certain things that Tom thought necessary to tell Anna. Some of the rumors were absolutely ridiculous, such as Tom had gotten Anna pregnant and that’s why he was staying with “a banker”. Anna had a fun time telling everyone in her life that she had an IUD and that if she were pregnant she would probably die so Tom needn’t stay with her since both her and their unborn child would die anyway. No one but Anna found this funny. Some were more hurtful though, people saying she was using Tom for fame or for his money. Since their debut together had come out of nowhere, being public so quick seemed like an obvious play for Tom’s wealth, the press obviously not knowing the true story of their overly long courtship.

FEEDBACK/COMMENTS: This chapter has drama, fluff, and smut. The big fanfic 3. It’s a big chapter. I hope you guys like it. Something that happens in this chapter is what inspired this entire multi-chapter fic so I am both excited and nervous to post it! Especially because it ended up not going the way I had planned. Chapter 8

A little over a month had past. Things were going great for Anna and Tom. Tom was still working on Kong: Skull Island but was busy around Europe and the U.K. doing promotions for The Night Manager as well. The series was a huge success in the markets it had premiered in, but it hadn’t yet debuted in America so Anna couldn’t watch it yet. The show was a beautifully shot espionage thriller that was also extremely sexy. Tom had warned Anna that the show would have some sex scenes in it. Even though she couldn’t watch it yet, it didn’t mean she wouldn’t hear about it so he wanted to make sure she was informed.

Tom’s star was rising, and he had a lot of focus on him in the media. Tom was in Vietnam now, which was an 11hr time difference, and had no idea that the show was being discussed so frequently, but he liked it that way. The time difference proved to be difficult for their daily FaceTime call though. They could only FaceTime on the weekends when Anna didn’t have to go to work or any days off Tom had after Anna got home. So they continued to text each other and email during the day, just to make sure they were communicating well. Tom would send pictures from set, and Anna would continue to beg for details on the movie. Tom still wouldn’t say anything.

Anna’s alarm went off at 6:30am. A low groan came from her throat as she rolled over to slam her phone into submission. Sam had left only 4 hours ago. They had two pitchers of margaritas, and not enough food to soak up the alcohol. They talked all night about Tom. Sam was utterly delighted by finally hearing some details about Anna’s love life, and Anna was relieved to finally be able to talk about it.

Anna laid in bed, staring up at the ceiling, trying to will herself awake. Tom was calling in 30 minutes, and she wanted to be in a better condition than she was right now. After some mental coaxing she got up. She went to the bathroom to pee and then washed her face, hoping to revive her a bit. She was looking rough. Dark circles under her eyes, and a paler than usual complexion. She looked like a thirsty vampire. She brushed her teeth and then shook out her hair, hoping her thick mane of dark locks might conceal just how terrible she was feeling. She put on her thick robe and put her glasses on, contacts were a no go today. She drank two large glasses of water as she waited for her coffee to brew, hoping to rehydrate to feel both better and look better. She contemplated putting on some concealer, but decided she might as well show Tom what he was getting into now, it wasn’t always pretty. She drank a full cup of coffee and was pouring another when her MacBook started ringing. She put the coffee pot down and ran over to answer it. Tom’s face appeared, his hair wet, he must have just taken a shower, and he was shirtless. Anna smiled.

“Good morning darling. It’s so good to see your face.” Tom greeted her.

I put something in like chapter 2 that somehow came back for this chapter. You’ll probably be able to figure out. And the last thing that happens in the chapter was based on a real life event. I’m not sure I should admit this on the internet. I hope you enjoy! Chapter 9

Tom was stirred awake by Anna tracing around his ab muscles with her finger as he slept.

“What are you doing?” he mumbled and he rolled over onto his side, towards Anna. He draped his arm around her, and rubbed her back slowly. Anna didn’t say anything. She took her finger that was tracing his abs, and started in on his arm muscles, his biceps and delts were extremely built at the moment.

“Did a sea witch take your voice?” Tom joked. Anna smiled and then began to sing the scales Ariel sings when she gives up her voice in The Little Mermaid.

“It’s a miracle!!” Tom said, as he messed up her hair.

Anna and Tom continued to stare at each other silently, delicately stroking each other with their fingertips. Their legs intertwined, Anna slowly rubbing her leg against Tom’s. They had done nothing but talk for two months. They were more than content to just sit in silence now, as long as they could hold each other. They stayed like that for nearly 30 minutes before Anna spoke.

Tom woke up first on Sunday. He was laying on his back, and Anna was cuddled into his side, her head resting on his chest, their legs were intertwined. This was new for them. Anna was not a cuddly sleeper. She tended to want her space when she slept. Tom smiled, and pulled her closer. He looked at the clock, it was about 9am. They had a late checkout, 1pm, so he was in no rush to wake her.

He laid there contently thinking about the night before. He had told her everything he wanted to, about his struggles with relationships, and she had not only accepted it, she had told him it wasn’t really a problem for her. He knew that was easier said than done, but he also knew she wouldn’t have said so if she didn’t at least believe it now, and that’s all he could ask for.

He replayed their night in his head. She was a bit anxious at the start of their date, but by the time they had started dinner she seemed comfortable enough. He knew sake helped with that, but they had a perfect evening after so there was no reason to be nervous. He was glad this evening proved they could be out without worry. He didn’t like sneaking around, he just went about his daily life. And hopefully with time, she would get more used to it. But he knew the best part of the night was when they got to the hotel.

Anna looked over at Tom. He was looking very pensive, and she was worried he saw how anxious she got.

“I’m sorry,” Anna began. “I know I got a little anxious while we were leaving. I get anxious a lot, even without you. And I know this is something I’m going to have to get used to and I just want you to know that I promise I will work on it. Wherever we are going next I am ready.”

“There is no reason for you to be sorry. It took me quite a while to get used to it, so I can’t expect you to be fine with it so quickly. If you feel anxious, tell me. I don’t want you to be uncomfortable. We are going to a restaurant now. Are you sure you are OK with this?” Tom looked at her worried. He really didn’t want to be the cause of an anxiety attack.

An Unexpected Guest - One Shot

But in the future there will be talk of anxiety and possibly smut, or alluding to smut.  FEEDBACK/COMMENTS: This is a one shot I wrote in the middle of the night, and my first attempt at fiction. Ever since she left college, she had lived alone. She liked coming home from work to a quiet apartment, taking off her clothes, putting on her silk robe, pouring a glass of wine and putting on some music. Her apartment was tiny. She had a small studio on the top floor of a brownstone in Brooklyn.  It wasn’t much but she loved it dearly. This was exactly how she wanted to live.

She had a rough day. Work deadlines were piling up, and it seemed that everyone in her office forgot to remember that she was human and couldn’t do things instantaneously, and that she wasn’t working solely for them. She rode the crowded subway home eagerly awaiting the moment she could get out of her button down shirt, pencil skirt, and heels and decompress. As she climbed the stairs to her third floor walk-up apartment, dreaming about a bubble bath, she heard music. This was strange. Her building was always so quiet. She was convinced she was the only one who ever made a sound. As she continued to climb she realized it was coming from her apartment. She stopped on the stairs, puzzled. A burglar wouldn’t turn on music. As she listened closer she realized it was a David Bowie album. Well at least if she was being burgled they had good taste. Then it dawned on her. She had given her keys to a beautiful man to use if he was ever in town and wanted a discreet place to stay. A place he had then continued to take advantage of ever since. He never showed up unexpectedly, though. As soon as that thought was fully realized she began to run up the remaining stairs.
