Whenever I meet new people out and they find out I don't drink, it's always the same conversation. It starts with people praising me for my hard work and efforts, and it is generally followed by the statement "I could never do that because.... " I don't want to change anyone, and I don't have a problem at all with people drinking and taking drugs, but I just have to squash this. First of all, you don't need to drink to have fun. All you need is the right company and to remember that there is nothing embarrassing about not caring what other people think. There are so many benefits to being sober, you know 100% that you're in control of your own actions. You know that you will never have your drink spiked because you will be together enough to remember that the second you turn your back on your drink, it's no longer yours. You will be able to keep yourself safe and drive away from any situation that you don't want to be in. You generally won't lose all your belongings or vomit or wee in public and you will have a clear memory of everything that happened the night before. I'm 25, and have never tasted alcohol, and I'm 100% happy. I have ridiculous amounts of fun, dance like crazy, meet new friends and play music in front of crowds, all using my own courage. If you don't want to be sober because you love drinking, that's 100% fine with me, and I'm happy with that. But if you tell yourself that you couldn't do it, you're not giving yourself enough credit and maybe you should test yourself and try it out. #itsoktobesober
