you have to see the good, you have to see the happiness
I found my parents wedding photo album tonight. It made me sad to see how they used to be, 20 years ago on that day they seemed so young and happy. Things have changed a lot since then, and that makes me sad. Knowing how much life has hurt each of them, changed them from those young, hopeful and in love people. God they have changed, they are both so lost and unhappy.
I used to be so incredible devastated about their separation, but you know what im happy for them because I know that this is how each of them learns about their new lives. How to live apart, physically and emotionally, but how to be a team (as they are always going to be parents), how to guide themselves as a single entity, how to move forward in their lives. Most importantly im happy that although it might be a slow and painful process, as they work through whatever issues they have hidden for years, they will find their own happiness.
I just want them to be happy, to be in love with life, to be vibrant again. Its scary to look at your parents, and how miserable and suppressed they are - they dont know who they are anymore. Life has worn them down. But i feel like my family is going to be okay - we are all going to find our own happiness. And im so excited for that.
