For number sending, 74 and 90?
74. What’s one interesting thing about your culture?
Okay, so I am a first-generation Filipino born and living in the USA. This is kind of a hard question to answer because I don't want to seem trivial, but I also don't want to give something that may be too big or inappropriate in some way. The thing that popped into my head first (because my dad just made Filipino spaghetti) is that we have banana ketchup, which is exactly what it sounds like - ketchup made with banana instead of tomato. It's still red though, because of dye. And yes, it is very sweet. Apparently, it was invented because of World War II. We use it in spaghetti. Some of my non-Filipino friends upon hearing the phrase "banana ketchup" have reacted with instant disgust, and I can understand why, but I grew up with it and it's not bad and I like it.
90. What’s something you wish you had more knowledge about?
On the topic of my culture, I do want to feel a bit more of a connection to it. I'd like to know more about Philippine history and the culture. Not that I haven't learned anything about it (I was in the Filipino club in high school, participated in PCNs, searched things up on my own accord, and asked questions to my family because I'm so curious), but there's always more to learn. I probably know more than a lot of my cousins that are also first-generation, at least. I also wish I knew Tagalog. I tried to learn by myself, but that was difficult, to say the least. My parents didn't speak to us in Tagalog because my mom didn't want us to develop an accent and get made fun of.
