Medical update
Apparently my veins are incredible weak. Like if the catheter nicks the wall at all, the vein become useless for an IV. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there anything I can do to help this??? Ironically, the veins in my wrists have been used so much, the scar tissue surrounding the veins seems to be acting as reinforcement and those are the only veins that aren't a problem.
Pharmacist: so I need you to make this IV drip for this patient
Me: okay, I can do that
Pharmacist: the drug is REALLY EXPENSIVE
Me: oh. Oka--
Pharmacist: it's $22k a vial. So don't screw up.
Me: Holy shit. No pressure.
Downstream Occclusions
Co-workers(x50 throughout the night): Your IV in 17 is beeping Me: (after the 10th time of being notified) Yes. I know. It is the beeping of my confused patient not keeping her arm down. I am fully aware. Thank you. I've been running around all night and holding her arm down (gently obv.) personally is not an option.
wishing i hadn't moved from the position i was lay in. sickness is horrible.
