The premier and everything coming out about Jan's new docmentary (Jan UIlrich - Der Gejagte) it was honestly just so heart warming, idk where to start and where to stop.
annika_zimmerfrau, who Jan is talking to there, put it very well: "Last week he came onto the stage that I was allowed to share with him and talked. Afterwards, many spoke, wrote and read about, “the doping confession”, a truth that had long been clear to everyone. It was about so much more than that. A decision for life. An approach to all the traveling companions and old friends. A resumption of the relationship with the German media. And last but not least, a yes to himself and a healthy middle path in life. Chapeau once again for this step. I could see how hard it was. Or in his words: "I sweated more than when cycling!""
You had old cycling buddies there, like Ivan Basso and Olaf Ludwig.
Or Danilo Hondo.
The stuff with Jan and Marco's mother (Tonina) was honestly so heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time.
The way Tonina explained in the documentary how hurt and disappointed she was back when Marco died and none of the cyclists even called to give their condolences. How Jan was one of the only guys she could reach in 2014 for a memorial. How Jan explained in the docu how he couldn't even train for two day back in 2004 after he heard of Marco's death because he was too shocked and distraught.
(I do think there was stuff around Marco's death that Jan hadn't fully processed. Just like with the doping).
