Cossack Mamay (2022)

This work was inspired by the image of the Cossack Ivan Bohun (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivan_Bohun) and the Ukrainian folklore hero of the 17th century - the Cossack Mamay (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cossack_Mamay). This is my tribute to the Ukrainian people and also to my ancestors, who had the surname Mamaeu, descendants of Mamay...

Probably the earliest appearance of Bohun and Chmielnicki in the cinema: Boris Bezgin (Борис Опанасович Безгін, 1907–1957) as Ivan Bohun (c. 1618–1664, on the left) and Nikolay Mordvinov (Микола Дмитрович Мордвинов, 1901–1966) as Bohdan Khmelnytsky (1595–1657, on the right) in the Ukrainian Soviet film "Bohdan Khmelnytsky" ("Богдан Хмельницький") from 1941.
