I pick and choose the parts of Russian Roulette I see as canon because otherwise it doesn't make sense. My belief is that Yassen wrote the diary as a way to mess with the heads of any intelligence operations who found it. There's a lot of bullshit mixed with truth.

I'm pretty sure he killed Sharkovsky at some point, even if it didn't happen the way he said it did, because a) why would Scorpia let Sharkovsky live after one failed attempt? and b) Yassen would feel the need to kill him.

But I like imagining a world where Yassen didn't kill the son and somehow Alex goes up against him.

Alex doesn't know Ivan is connected with Yassen. He just knows he's a crime lord involved in the mission MI6 sent him on.

Yassen's just casually checking up on Alex's whereabouts and find out he's near one of the Sharkovsky properties. Suddenly, Yassen abandons his job to fly across the world to Russia

For most of Russian Roulette I was imaginings a situation where Alex was sent up against one of the Sharkovskys, either the father or the son, and Yassen stepped in to protect Alex. I still think that would be a great au.
