There are circumstances in which you need to act quickly or the irreparable will happen. At these moments decisions must be made instantly because decisions can change everything. Now is the exact moment.

Have you ever seen how person is killed, with your own eyes? You have. You’re seeing it right now. And no matter how much one wants to abstract, not to think about it or change the topic - this will not change the fact that Alexey Navalny is being killed. In a scary way. In front of all of us.
And before each of us, whether we want it or not, there’s this particular question: are we ready to do something to save the life of a person who has been risking it for us for many years.
The Anti-Corruption Foundation turns 10 this year. 10 years ago, we gathered to tell you how the deceitful United Russia (the leading party of Russia) members actually live on our money. We have changed the life of every official forever, we have stirred up their cozy nests of corruption. They never liked it, and now they are infuriated.
All these years we have lived under maximum pressure. Constant searches, arrests, criminal cases, accounts’ blockage, night interrogations, hostage-relatives. Nevertheless, even under this pressure, we managed to survive, and not only survive: new investigations came out, our candidates won elections. Putin was even more angry.
The rates increased sharply last year when they tried to poison Navalny with ‘Novichok’. But he survived, he investigated his poisoning, talked to his own killer, and then returned to Russia to continue his politics. Putin could not forgive this and made Alexey his hostage.
Now Navalny is in colony and his life is hanging by a thread. He has serious health problems but the doctors are not allowed to see him. He has been on a hunger strike for several weeks now, demanding medical attention. The condition is critical. We don't know how long he can take. But it is clear that we do not have time.
On Friday, April 16, the Moscow prosecutor's office filed a statement of claiming the Anti-Corruption Foundation and Navalny's headquarters as extremist organizations. If we do not answer this in any way there is no doubt that the court will satisfy this claim. And very quickly.
What does it mean? This means that we, in fact, will be equated with terrorists.
This means that anyone who says: "I am an employee of Navalny's headquarters" or "I am an employee of the Anti-Corruption Foundation" will go to prison for up to six years. This means that trying to continue our work – i.e., releasing new investigations – will lead to the fact that anyone who does this can be imprisoned for 10 years.
Just think about it: there is Hezbollah - an organization that is responsible for dozens of terrorist attacks. And it is invited to Moscow for official negotiations. And there are the Anti-Corruption Foundation and headquarters that are simply fighting to ensure that the laws are respected in Russia. But this cannot be done. Now this is extremism. Putin is ready to talk on equal terms with murderers because he is a murderer himself. But he hates those who are fighting for freedom and who want to live in a happy Russia. And in this hatred he has already reached the extreme point.
Why it happened right now is easy to understand. Trust in Putin is vastly decreasing, and the influence of TV is getting weaker. Living standards are decreasing too, prices are rising, and people's eyes are opening. The rating of United Russia, the party on which Putin relies, is getting lower and lower, partly thanks to our work. Therefore, Putin launched a desperate attack.
If we keep quiet now, it will be the darkest time for free people. Russia will plunge into complete darkness. Peaceful political activity in Russia will become impossible. Anyone who disagrees with the current regime will be recognized as an extremist. Anyone who does not agree that Putin has seized power with a gang of thieves will be recognized as an enemy of the state.
Talking about corruption is a crime. Fighting for your rights is a crime. To tell the truth is a crime. Anyone who wants to live in a free country is a potential criminal. Anyone who is unhappy with anything from hybrid wars to tiny pensions is a criminal. When Putin decided to declare us extremists, he actually gave a signal to each of you: you are dangerous people. You are terrible people. People like you are simply not needed in Russia.
But we need Russia. We want to live in a happy country where there are no political prisoners, where political opponents are not killed or tortured in prisons. You and I have nowhere to retreat.
This Wednesday, April 21, at 7pm local time, we are calling on people across the country to protest. Call all your friends and go out to the central squares. Come to the largest city in which you can be on Wednesday evening: from the regional city to the regional center, from the Moscow region to Moscow.
The life of Alexey Navalny and the fate of Russia depend on how many citizens get to the streets this Wednesday. And three days before the protest are needed for absolutely everyone to know about it. Talk about it wherever you can. Talk to everyone you can reach. Hang flyers at the entrance/porch, write posts on social media, call your family and relatives and tell them what is happening. Absolutely everyone can do something to save Alexey right now. Don't miss this opportunity, there may not be another one.
Once, when Alexey Navalny was just starting his political path, he titled his blog as ‘The final battle between good and neutrality’. Now, when Putin is killing Navalny for the second time in front of all of Russia, and the authorities are registering everyone who is against it as extremists, we are forced to correct this slogan. Ahead of us is a very difficult final battle between normal people and absolute evil.
If you do not want the country to completely plunge into the darkness, you have the last chance to prevent this.

Infuriating news: Roskomnadzor, one of Russia’s state-owned corporations, wants to block the YouTube channels of NavalnyLive and Lyubov Sobol.
This forms part of Putin’s campaign of persecution against Navalny’s allies. If we remain silent, brave Russian dissidents will be forced to pull their content from the web, or, as others have already done, flee Russia entirely.
Lyubov Sobol has faced multiple rounds of persecution, including a frivolous lawsuit for slander filed by billionaire Evgeny Prigozhin, after she exposed him for poisoning Moscow schoolchildren with rotten meat.
(To my utter shock, she has been fined around 5 million roubles for several more cases!)
Recently, she had to end her election campaign for the Moscow State Duma, even though she had a rigorous and principled set of policies; owing to ongoing persecution, she could no longer protect her staff.
Sobol has also faced legal repercussions for questioning one of the FSB agents who poisoned Navalny, as well as a ludicrous fine of 250 000 roubles for allegedly inciting protests; in fact, she barely mentioned the April 21 protests during her Echo of Moscow radio interview prior.
On top of this, a Moscow court banned FBK (Anti-Corruption Foundation) for ‘extremist’ activity. As a result, FBK closed their offices and dismissed hundreds of volunteers, as they could no longer guarantee their safety.
FBK heads Leonid Volkov and Ivan Zhdanov have fled Russia to avoid further criminal cases. Zhdanov, like many Belarusian refugees, now lives in Lithuania.
Europeans must step in to help Russian dissidents. We already have a devastating tool: Magnitsky Sanctions, which punish human rights abusers through asset freezes and visa denials.
Alexei Navalny, who has been unjustly imprisoned for 193 days, suggested these sanctions in his address to the European Parliament. His ally, Leonid Volkov, published a list of 35 Putin enablers who we could target immediately.
Despite having this list since January, we have not sanctioned these individuals. One of the men on Navalny’s list is Alisher Usmanov, the convicted blackmailer from Uzbekistan who has given multi-billion rouble bribes to politicians like former Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev.
A quick Google search shows that, rather than facing crippling sanctions, Usmanov seems well-established in his business dealings at Arsenal Football Club. Yet several months ago, Dame Margaret Hodges had asked the British government to sanction Usmanov in support of Navalny’s freedom.

Maria Pevchikh, Head of Investigation at the now-banned Anti-Corruption Foundation, presents yet another exposé on corrupt Moscow Mayor, Sergei Sobyanin.
In this appalling story, the father of FBK’s director Ivan Zhdanov, Yuri Zhdanov, was arrested and is being held in a pre-trial detention centre. His crime? Recommending a small apartment to a young woman, Yulia Vetrova, who had married and given birth to a child, thus being unable to fit into the same apartment as her parents. The state declared that she had no right to the additional space, and evicted her.
Nobody else who helped make this recommendation was arrested. If convicted, Yuri Zhdanov may be sent to prison for several years.
By comparison, a wealthy government official, pictured on the right of this thumbnail, received an apartment from Mayor Sobyanin in a block that was designed for needy families. Pevchikh shows how Ms. Doguzova’s wardobe is worth more than 6 times her official declared salary of 5 million roubles, and worth the same amount as her Moscow apartment (cadastral value of 30 million roubles).
We come to a simple question. How can a married mother of one not be entitled to a 50 m2 apartment, recommended by the council, but a single lady with undeclared income can receive one of the most expensive apartments in Moscow, no questions asked?
This is Putin’s Russia. A system of breathtaking greed, shrouded in official secrecy.
Yuri Zhdanov will join a lengthy list of innocent people bullied by Putin’s government for no reason, of which FBK founder Alexei Navalny is one of the most famous. As for Ivan Zhdanov himself, he has fled Russia for Lithuania (just like many wanted people in Belarus). The Russian government has put him onto an international wanted list, as though he were a sophisticated criminal.
This kind of insanity and injustice must end. I hope as many Russians sign up to SmartVoting and remove these crooks from office.
