To all my “friends” and “family” that voted for Trump/Pence….

As a woman I fear for my safety now more than ever… Over half the women in my life have been sexually harassed, assaulted or raped. As a young girl I wasn’t allowed to go outside at night because I’d get “kidnapped” or worse. As an adult, I’ve always dreaded walking alone at night. Since I was 14 years old I have been Followed. Cornered. Cat Called. Grabbed. And Harassed. Luckily I haven’t had it “that bad”. Since the results came in last night I have heard multiple “men” talk excitedly about how these things are now okay. My question for you is how could you believe that this is okay? A trump presidency means that the “men” that do such things are justified in their actions. For over half of the country to condone such behavior is unforgivable not only to the survivors of such attacks but also to the women in your lives that trusted that you to care about them and their safety.

As far as my body goes….When an all Republican party defunds Planned Parenthood, which one of you is going to come up with the $1200 for my birth control when I have to start paying out of pocket again? Did you know that without my birth control my hormones are imbalanced and I suffer excruciating pain each month and become anemic? Which of you are going to pay for the $200 office visits, $300 gynecological exam and $200 breast exam that get yearly to screen for cancer? Because you know I guess cancer isn’t that serious… Which of you are going to pay $300 for an office visit and antibiotic if I get a urinary tract Infection? And which of you is going to offer me a safe haven if I were to be attacked? Because Planned Parenthood has offered all of these things to me for years free of charge.

To the Christians, as I know many of you are, I would like to know how you can support a "man" that so clearly stands against the core beliefs of your entire religion? How can you support a “man” that is a rapist, a misogynist, a white supremacist, homophobic, islamophobic, transphobic, ableist, sexist, and above all selfish. A man that was literally supported by the KKK and white supremacists… Jesus showed compassion for all and helped them: the poor, the despised, the outcasts, and wants us to do the same (Matt. 4:24-25;9:9-13). You say you are “bringing god back into the White House” but what you have done is a support “false prophet” that supports bigoted ideologies and that has created a wave of fear throughout the world.

For all my open LGBTQ+, Hispanic, female, black, Jewish, and Muslim friends and family members… I am so sorry for what you are going to have to endure in the near future. Know that I stand with you, I am here, and I am sorry that this happened.
