#Vinyl_HG // #VinylWednesday // One of my closest friends, Davis Eli "David" Ruffin released his debut solo album "My Whole World Ended" in 1969 on #Motown #Records. David started off singing in a family #gospel group lead by his father. Then when he moved to #Detroit, where his brother #JimmyRuffin was signed with Motown, he moved in with and worked for "Pops" Gordy, #BerryGordy father, and worked as an apprentice at #AnnaRecords ( run by #GwenGordy, Berry's sister ) together with #MarvinGaye they would pack records. He is most famous for his four year run with #TheTemptations ( Motown ) as their lead singer. But after being kicked out of the group he went solo. He still had the backing of Motown records and together with the in-house producers such as #HarveyFuqua, #JohnnyBristol, #PaulRiser and #IvyJoHinter he made this wonderful album. #TheFunkBrothers ( the band behind most Motown hits ) are amazingly good throughout, getting down just as hard as the vocalist. And what a vocalist Ruffin was!!! Marvin Gaye ones said; I heard [in his voice] a strength my own voiced lacked". The album reached #1 on the US #Billboard R&B Albums and #31 on the US #Billboard200. #Vinyl #VinylMe #Soul #Love #Music #Record #MonoRecords #LosAngeles (at Los Angeles, California)
