iwaoi accidental photo booth first kiss. oikawa was going to “jokingly” kiss iwa’s cheek but it seemed like iwa had the same idea. with wide eyes and pressed lips, the camera went off. the next picture captured them fully lip-locked with flushed cheeks and gentle smiles.

oikawa whistles the loudest with tears in his eyes at iwaizumi’s college graduation when his name is called. despite not being able to see his fluffy haired fiancée in the sea of people, iwaizumi can hear him and a toothy grin is plastered on the big screen for everyone to see

Huh, those are pretty good muscles.  They’ll probably get even bigger in high school.  I bet he won’t have a problem getting a girlfriend then.  That was two.  One more to go.  If he didn’t take this seriously, the teacher would probably notice and make them keep going. Hmm, what was different about him from other guys? He had kinda thick eyebrows.  That furrowed menacingly at Oikawa whenever he screwed up in a match.  Oikawa lifted a thumb up to Iwaizumi’s face and smoothed over a brow with his finger.  Iwaizumi’s face had been screwed up tight with tension, but it began to relax a little.

Iwaizumi and Oikawa decided that they wanted to take a class together before they graduated junior high. They both had to fulfill their arts requirement, so on a whim, Oikawa picked an acting class, and Iwaizumi grudgingly agreed. They had heard the teacher was Western-trained and a little eccentric, but how hard could the class be? It would probably be fun. And, Oikawa thought, a good way to show off his winning personality and pick up girls. That is, until the teacher assigned them their first scene and asked them to try it in front of the class. “Uh…sensei?” said Oikawa. “Yes?” “Do we…really have to do this?” “Of course,” she said. “Why not?” Iwaizumi’s ears were slightly pink. “The men in this scene…Are they – lovers?” “I should think that would be obvious,” said the teacher. The other students laughed. “But sensei, that’s weird!” said Oikawa. “People might think we’re…” He bit his lip. “Nonsense. There’s nothing weird about it. And it’s just acting. Everyone knows you’re not actually lovers, just as everyone knows that Takahashi-kun is not a serial killer and Ushida-san is not the tooth fairy.” Oikawa went on to argue with the teacher for another minute, with Iwaizumi staying silent. “Listen,” said the teacher. “I can prove to you that you can do this scene. Just get up on stage and try it out. Improvise the movement.” “But—" “No buts. Pretend that your partner is a girl, if it helps. It’s called acting for a reason.” Sheepishly, the two boys got up and began the scene. They were stiff and barely emoting at all, just reading the lines. Oikawa thought he was going to make a pretty good actor. Iwaizumi was just along for the ride. But with this scene, the boys could only manage a stiff rendition.

How did you come up with this WIP?  What inspired you to start working on it? 

I had an idea to make a series of fics throughout their childhood showcasing their lives outside of volleyball. Sort of like vignettes showing how they and their relationship grow. The first one is called Playdate, and it's on my AO3.

What parts of this WIP are you most excited to write?  (Non-spoilery answers only, please!)

Creatively translating Iwaizumi's insults to Oikawa.
